Saudi hospital in Beirut treats over 3,000 patients

The Saudi field hospital in Beirut has treated more than 3,000 Lebanese men, women and children wounded in the current crisis, the Arab News reported today.
Part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian assistance to the people of Lebanon, the hospital was set up July 31 to provide much-needed medical assistance to those suffering as a result of the Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
The fully-equipped facility is able to conduct both minor and major operations, and includes laboratories as well as ambulances. The Kingdom recently increased the hospital’s staff by adding 18 physicians, 15 male nurses, 12 pharmacists, five emergency technicians, eight X-ray technicians and three lab technicians.
The hospital, which is supervised by the Saudi Red Crescent Society, will remain in Lebanon as long as it is needed.

Aid from the Oil Rich Iran to Lebanon

Iran sends 5th aid consignment for Lebanon

Damascus, July 24, IRNA

Iran-Lebanon-Aid

Iran’s fifth humanitarian aid consignment for the people of Lebanon arrived here late Sunday.
Iran’s Red Crescent Society sent the consignment, which includes medicines and medical equipment, through two planes.
Iranian Charge d’Affaires in Syria Ghazanfar Roknabadi, who was in the airport when the consignment arrived, told IRNA that Iran had already sent four humanitarian aid consignments to Lebanon in the past two days.
“This is apart from our political support for the Islamic resistance movement against the assault of the Israeli regime,” he said.

Roknabadi moreover said that Iran’s Red Crescent Society had also sent three ambulances and 12 tons of food, medicines and medical equipment in coordination with the Foreign Ministry for the oppressed Lebanese nation.
He said 20 other ambulances and another 38 tons of food and medicines will be sent to Lebanon in the coming days.

The head of Iran’s Relief and Rescue Organization, Mansour Aqanasiri, said the consignments include sleeping bags, rice, sugar, dates, bread, medicines and medical equipment.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Health Seyed Moayyed Alavian voiced Iran’s readiness to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Lebanon.
In separate meetings with Syrian health officials, Alavian, who is currently on a three-day trip to Damascus, discussed ways of dispatching aid to Lebanon.
Israeli missile attacks on Lebanon, which began 13 days ago, have claimed 369 lives, mostly civilians, injured over 1000 and destroyed infrastructure as well prevented humanitarian aid from reaching Lebanon.
Half a million people have been forced to evacuate while thousands more await evacuation.

COMMENT

Still they don’t feel any shame while criticising those who are far ahead from them in helping Lebanese.

Re: Iranian flights blocked by Turkey & Saudis

Yeah and Mushie is flying to aid to help the poor hapless Israelis…

Re: Iranian flights blocked by Turkey & Saudis

This's completely bull****. Turkey didn't blocked Iranian flights. Actually it's Iran who has blocked flights to Turkey. Mullah regimes bloecked flights to Turkey because every year 1 million Iranians visit Turkey. Well, Iranians who had a chance to visit Turkey, may compare Turkey to Iran and ask themselves why their country's conditions are worse then Turkey although Iran has nearly million times more economical sources (hidrocarbon sources) than Turkey.

As a result, don't ever believe anything that mullah media says. Here's the reality from free Turkish media.
Iran bans tourists from Turkish coastal resorts

Friday, May 5, 2006

*Since coming to power in 2005, Iranian President Ahmedinajad has banned Western products. Now he is banning his citizens from traveling to coastal resorts. As a result the Iranian government no longer allows direct flights to destinations such as Antalya, Marmaris and Bodrum *

SIBEL CINGI
ISTANBUL - TDN/Referans

Last year, breaking all records to date, Turkish tour operators brought 21 million tourists to Turkey. Then came bird flu and terrorism, and all of a sudden tour operators were faced with an unprecedented drop in profits. Now with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad's recent “ban on vacationing on the Turkish coast,” the reversal of fortunes in Turkish tourism is far from over.
From the moment he came to power in August 2005, Ahmedinajad began a banning spree on all Western products. It appears that Iranians wanting to vacation on the Turkish coast were next on his agenda when Ahmedinajad banned direct flights to Turkey's coastal hot spots, thereby rendering uncertain the future of Turkish tourism operators.
The Iranian Civil Aviation Directorate banned flights to Antalya, Bodrum and Marmaris last March, said Yurdakan Tarhan, the general manager of Tarhan Turizm. “We are astonished. We are looking for ways out of this major problem.”

Huge demand from Iranians to vacation in Turkey:
Tarhan is one tour operator that mostly deals with Iran. “For the last four years, we have been bringing tourists from Iran to Antalya with direct flights. But with the new government in power, everything has changed. There are hundreds of Iranian tourists who want to vacation in Antalya, Bodrum and Marmaris but we cannot respond to this demand due to a lack of planes,” Tarhan said.

Not enough planes:
Desperately seeking a solution to the problem, Tarhan said: “We are planning to fly Iranian tourists to coastal areas via Istanbul and Ankara; however, we are having problems trying to find enough planes due to a very busy season already in full swing. If we fail to find enough planes, the Iranian market, which expanded 52 percent last year, will shrink by 50 percent. Presently we are in negotiations with Turkish Airlines and some private carriers. Last year it cost $175 to fly to Turkey from Iran. This year it is $260.”

A market not to lose:
The Iranian market carries enormous significance for Turkish tour operators. Iranian tourists, unable to enjoy certain experiences such as extensive shopping, entertainment and vacations because they are officially banned by Tehran, flock to neighboring countries, primarily Turkey.
In 2004, 628,000 Iranians visited Turkey. This rose to 956,000 in 2005. This increase has catapulted Iran into second place in terms of Turkey's rapidly growing markets.

What does an Iranian tourist do in Turkey?
Compared with European and Russian visitors, Iranian tourists spend more money during their stay in Turkey. While Russians spend $600 per person, Iranians spend over $1,000.
“Iranian tourists come to Turkey to spend money. They want to stay at five-star hotels and take advantage of all the amenities Turkey offers to tourists from all over the world. They are serious shoppers and leave good tips,” said a tourism industry source. Now they are afraid to lose this market due to the attitude of Tehran's new government.
Touristic Hotels and Investors Association (TUROB) President Timur Bayındır believes Tehran's policies will have a negative impact on the Turkish intake of Iranian tourists. “This is not limited to the Turkish coast -- Iran has also banned many other spots in the world. In general, they do not allow flights to Europe, either. Permission is given to travel only to Islamic countries. Iran is an important destination for Turkey. In that market, serious developments have taken place over the last two years. In summer, there were even concerts organized for Iranian tourists featuring Iranian artists," he said.
Ufuk Sen, the general manager of TT Airlines, pointed out the high number of confirmed seat reservations. “In summer even 10 flights a day will not meet the demands of the Iranian market. There are not enough facilities in Iran, so they come to Turkey. Tehran noticed that their citizens were wearing swimsuits at coastal resorts like Antalya, and the government banned direct flights to Antalya, but Iranians still want to come.”

The Turkish government must help find a solution: Suat Akay, the owner of Harmony Travel in Bodrum, organizes events particularly for Iranian tourists. “Indirect flights from Istanbul will be expensive. Tickets that we previously sold for $600 we will now sell for over $700. The tour operators have not yet been able to strike a deal with airline companies, and this has caused everything to come to a halt. Since there aren't hundreds of charter planes in Iran, Turkey had to suspend operations, and if it continues like this we will have to forget about the Iranian market. The government must help find a solution. If there are no Iranian tourists, tour operators and hotels as well as business will suffer."
