Iran bans Western Hairstyles

Man these are some draconian laws.

With so much hair variety in the West. What constitutes a Western Hairstyle?

Iranian police have warned barbers not to give men Western hairstyles or use make up on them.

The move is part of an unusually fierce crackdown on what is known locally as bad hijab, or un-Islamic clothing, that this year is also targeting men.

Hair stylists have been warned that they could lose their licences if they do not comply.

However, police have denied a report that they have ordered barbers not to serve customers wearing ties.

Wild

Police say that as well as avoiding Western hairstyles and make up, barbers should not pluck customers’ eyebrows.

Some young boys in Iran sport very wild hair styles, using gel to make their long hair stand on end in a fashion not seen in other countries.

Meanwhile newspapers in Iran have quoted the police as saying that 16,000 women and 500 men have been cautioned in the last week over their improper clothing.

It is not clear if these figures are nationwide or only apply to the capital, Tehran.

Iranian television has said the crackdown on un-Islamic clothing has entered its second phase now where mobile police units will patrol Tehran to look for those who are not observing Islamic dress properly.

According to the local media, Tehran’s public prosecutor has suggested women who violate dress rules should be exiled from the capital to remote areas of the country.

A member of the parliament’s legal committee has said there is no legal impediment to doing this.

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

What is western haircut anyway? They want to change the whole country into baldies or what?

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

The article does not say that a law has been passed giving the police a free licence to do whatever they are doing. There is a difference in laws not being a legal impediment and laws ratified by the parliament.

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

I hope this never happens in Pakistan.

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

My guess would be these long shoulder length hair that Western fashion models have.

But man this is really dum.

Who the hell are they to tell someone what kind of haircut they can have...

Countries like these are never successful

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

and mahawks these ar considered unislamic...........even in here guys keeping long hairs are forced to cut or at times they are forcefully made blad by police ............

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

Iran reminds of a strict old fashioned school principle enforcing strict dress codes on students who are pretty much fed up with their principle

if the principle doesnt realize this, he will have a riot on his hands

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

exactly^^the more u stop them the more they will rebel

Re: Iran bans Western Hairstyles

I know imitating the Kuffaar is Haraam in things that are particular to their religion such as an Imam wearing a Vicar's collar, a Muslim lady wearing a Hindu forehead Bindi/Manglasutra/Sidhoor or a black-white nun's habit instead of a shawl/scarf....

But spiking my hair up with gel is not the discerning religious style of any community in particular, it is a universal fashion, it is not like shaving my beard, which is sinful because we’ve specifically been ordered otherwise (may Allaah Ta'aala forgive us our shortcomings and give us the taufeeq to follow all His orders, aameen).

I know a guy who prays five times a day and is very religious but very stylish at the same time, he gels his hair up and never wears Shalwar Kameez but universal attire keeping it in line with the Islamic guidelines by mostly wearing ¾ pants or tracksuit pants which tie above the ankle.

Most people in Iran wear universal clothes anyway, I've been to an Azeri village and a Persian one and even in the villages, in our country everyone wears untidy Salwar Kameez which is hideously unsightly. What I don't undestand is why they never wear tie at formal occasions, it is not representative of the cross like many say..
