Iran’s military has launched two production lines to build unmanned aircraft with surveillance and attack capabilities, their defense minister said Monday.
The drones would be used for “surveillance, detection and even assaults with high precision,” according to a report quoted by the London Daily Telegraph.
On the eve of Revolution Day, February 11, Iran presented a domestically made experimental stealth aircraft and inaugurated production lines for Raad drones for attack missions and Nazir drones for intelligence missions, as well as a production line for the Toufan-5 armor-penetrating missile and the Qaem laser-guided anti-helicopter missile. A senior official in the land branch of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Nasser Arab-Beigi, said that Iran has a variety of missiles that will surprise the U.S. and that will give a crushing response to its tanks if it attacks Iran.
Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said that “Iran sees its defense abilities as belonging to the Islamic ummah.”
Re: Iran Announces Production of 'High Precision' Attack Drones
this is total rubbish. just look at the profile of this craft? it doesn't have any chance of being stealth. worse, they put propellers on it for crying out loud!
Good for them. I suspect it will have little practical value.
That nut case Ahmadi-Nejad survives by confronting everyone and extorting money from those Hijras in the Arab Gulf states.
beyond propaganda and counter propaganda ahmedinejad serves very little purpose on the strategic front
the question is: should iran be allowed to continue its nuclear program, as promised to them for signing the npt?
if you think iran is a danger, then any self respecting person would also use the same logic for pakistan. be it a pakistan with or without terrorism, a ppp govt or even an mqm govt.
Re: Iran Announces Production of 'High Precision' Attack Drones
Typical of Iran's nonsense...
They recently announced they produced a 5th Generation Stealth Fighter on par with the F-22 Raptor
This is all designed for domestic consumption....
UAV Drones are very complicated to produce
1st - You need a Satellite to rely the information
2nd - You need a ground control station to fly the drone
3rd - You need the drone with high precision cameras and an engine which does not make noise and fly at high altitute and special lenses which don't fog up at high altitude
All of which takes YEARS of research and development and millions of dollars to achieve
Re: Iran Announces Production of 'High Precision' Attack Drones
^^ what if someone steal all this information/technology and then built their owns... obviously if these drones are even 30% of what iranians are saying, then there is big hole in USA and western security for their plans and strategic assets..
Iran has its own satellites and with the best engineering uni in the world, it bound to have the rest too.

Actually, I think Iran has a good case for nuclear weapons. They are a Shia Persian country sarrounded by agressive, and dear I say, nuclear armed Sunni neighbours.
But the bilawaja ka panga that Ahmadi-Nejad has taken with Isreal makes them out to be agressors. There is no way that Iran can destroy Isreal, but this rubbish from ahmadi-Nejad plays into the enemies of Iran. Israel and the neo-cons in America know this.
Iran should get rid off these two pagal, Khaminei and Ahmadi-Nejad.
But they are an ancient and culturally rich nation, and I don't see why they should not have nuclear weapons.

This is UTTER BS by Iran
1st - No you don't. Terrain-mapping, INS, Radio navigation, doppler, etc. don't rely on satellites. Besides, Iran has plenty of satellites, so no problem using GPS either.
2nd - Ground control stations aren't difficult to build.
3rd - The characteristics of the engine & cameras have no effect on the existence of a UAV. Besides, these aren't difficult to make either.
I don't know why educated people need to speculate. Just look at that picture! it looks like a hobby built from a kit you can mail order.
Drone crafts are easy to build - I can do it in my backyard. It's the rest of the stuff that makes it interesting.
In this case** a craft in that shape doesn't have any chance of stealth at all**. Just google
Shape of the craft has little or nothing to do with stealth, in terms of drones. UAV's emit very little heat signatures, so the aerodynamics really do not matter much anyways. It'd be better if you researched stealth in detail; may be then you would understand the purpose of special aerodynamics.
And yes, propellers produce less heat than jet-engines, which definitely makes the drone more stealthy.
American Reaper and Predator UAV's, along with most others in the world, also use propellers. I don't know what you are trying to get at, but it sounds pretty stupid.

.
Do you mean Satellite*S* or Satellite .... as far as i know it has only launched one only and that too into low orbit .... i don't think Iran has yet the capabilty to send a satellite into geostationary orbit .... where you would normally place a communication satellite.

I meant satellite*s*.
Kavoshgar, Safiri, Omid, Sinah, are a few already in orbit. Russia and China have both launched communication satellites for Iran in the past. Iranian Space Agency also received a massive funding boost a couple years ago.
Perhaps the Iranians forgot to tell you this … their “Omid” re-entered earth sometime back … having mickey mouse satellites and having satellites with military capabilty are two different things

And I'm sure they tell you which of their satellites are loaded with military applications or when they will launch, aam sadhu. :D
