:salam2:
My dear fellow Poetry fourm members:
Today I am reaching out to you for a good cause in my opinion. Gupshup Poetry forum is a place in the whole world wide web, where we take pride in being the most unique, dynamic, creative, purely poetry oriented, and more interactive and interconnected with each other than any of other Urdu Poetry Forums on the net (even though Urdu poetry is not the only poetry one can post here)…
Recently during last one year or so, we have had many competitions ranging from Bait Baazi, Bait Baazi between the teams, Azadi Competition, so on and so forth; and those were made successful because of the outstanding dedication and participation from none other but all of you.
We spend our time everyday here in fun threads like Time Pass or bait baazi or even reading some good stuff being posted and commenting on that by our appreciation. The idea that I have come with today is something that might be a hard work for you people because it may require some research and given the short period of time, it does seem very difficult. But, I believe in you and I am taking a shot. If I will fail, I will take the responsibility and will desert the idea but if it becomes successful, then, it will be only people like you who can make it a success.
April 21st is the date that marks the death anniversary of Our national hero Allama Iqbal. I feel it my duty to ask everyone of you to take some time out and be enthusiastic about the competition in this regard. By participating, you can register your regard to this great person who is known as Thinker of Pakistan. If we can spend time posting in Time Pass, I am sure, it will worth to take few hours from your time, to actually participate in it.
I will make it very simple.
What we are looking for as the entry is following:
- Introduction (2 points)
- Presentation (3 points)
- Piece of poetry (could be more than one) related to presentation (5 points -given that it is related to presentation)
What you need to do is to pick up a poetry style of Iqbal and describe that in your own words. Yes, we are actually not looking for copy paste but you can get help from already available material…
You can choose to present Iqbal that has written for children. You describe his poetry in that regard that what type of poetry he did etc. and then, choose a poem or two or more to support your description.
Likewise, you can choose Iqbal who is more nationalistic in his poetry or you can choose Iqbal who is more religious, or phiolospher or a thinker. But remember to support it with his poetry because that’s what the competition is about…
Additional Rules are:
- NO Audio/Video is allowed
- Images can be used
- No entry should exceed more than 1 post.
Simple and easy…
To make it more easy for you, I have only three links and I am sure it will be good enough for you guys to come up with a plan…
A detailed overview of his life from where you can get help in your introduction (remember it is only 2 points so it should not be too long):

His books online:

and finally, this thread where you will find “all types” of Iqbal… This will be a good source for the poetry part of your entry:

Both I and Shab have tried to contact Gizzy to approve the idea of getting custom title for the winners but have not heard anything from him; he seems to be busy… but if we hear anything from him, we will let you know…
What I am asking in this thread is to come and suggest anything. Please, let us know who is participating so we can start the actual thread once we have enough participants… If we do not get enough people, we will unfortunately have to drop the idea and that will be a sad thing for me to bear because I believe in each one of you and I know how good you are in participation. So I am looking forward for it…
One last thing is that there are three judges appointed for this competition and almost all three of them are not regular poster of Intikhab, however, all three of them are themselves good poets and have an eye of judgement - This is done to reduce any biases or impartiality, if there could be any… and also, it will allow moderators to participate in the competition as well… So we have two participants already…
It does not have to be on April 21st - we can be flexible and can stretch it to the end of month if members think that will be fair.
Your turn; I am all ears. ![]()
