What you think about today 9/11/2010.
My question is that Iqbal the philosopher and great poet of Pakistan, we are fellowing the Iqbal ideology or not and If we follow what will be do Say your comments
Iqbal is National poet of many countries . According to Iran citizens ," the revolution In Iran (Islami Inqlab) is due to Iqbal and today status of Iran is due to Iqbal"
Why are we still fighting on the issue of Allama Iqbal when we have successfully ditched the man's philosophy down the drain?
The first discussion post calls him "poet of Pakistan" and the socond post took those words alone from the post and started questioning the intent of the poster. Fair. But why was the bold part ignored?
To be politically correct, Allama Iqbal is not called the poet of Pakistan but he is considered poet of the east.
And to answer about if he was a Pakistani or Hindustani or whatever? He was born in Sialkot, lived in Lahore, died and buried in Lahore. These places were part of India during his life time but are now big cities of Pakistan. He saw a dream of a separate nation-state and worked for it. His descendents are Pakistanis.
He was born and died as hindustani. If he was alive, he would very well be a Pakistani. He did not live to see Pakistan but he definitely lived to bring Pakistan into reality.
Ironic that the only thing that kept him a hindustani and not a pakistani was death. What a powerful thing death truly is. It can make you one or the other. I think we should stop such controversial debates about his nationality and who 'owns' him and who does not. The better thing would be to give respect to who he was as a poet, as a philosopher, as a thinker and above all as a leader of Muslims of the sub-continent, and what he struggled for.

I tried to come back on topic idiotistan
Is it necessary to praise Iqbal on Iqbal day ?
No. It is absolutely not necessary to praise Iqbal on Iqbal day. It should not be a day to praise anyway. We praise Pakistan on Pakistan day, does it make any difference? :)
The politics of sub-continent, or of Pakistanis in the context of the current off-tangent discussion, is such that every one thinks of the other as idiot. Not that I disagree with the part of Babar Awan being idiot. But calling names is not a very bright idea on a discussion forum in my humble opinion.
