Now that I convinced my 9 years old to have me return her Kindle Fire, I am thinking of buying her Ipod Touch. She is not into music but I know that she can have other fun, like she is too much into making self videos of doing pretend cooking and record video tour of our house and even record her daily thoughts. She also loves playing games and especially like to do skype with her cousin from Michigan. She loves taking pictures that she can do with the Touch.
Should I go ahead with Ipod touch as I like to keep it all Apple in our family ?

Touch seems alright, or maybe an Iphone4 locked with the 4.10 or 4.11 baseband? I hear they’re selling out for peanuts out there. Just bought a couple myself.

IPod touch is good and I think perfect for a 9 years old. If she also uses cell phone then consider giving her the 4s. Camera and face time on it is amazing.

Bebo, 4S seems to be out of budget as of now. I returned Kindle because it did not have any wow factor. Yes price is low but low price is not everything, especially when they did not have something as simple as a voice recorder/Microphone jack. After using Ipad, you feel claustrophobic using Kindle.
Kindle Fire is not in the same market as iPad. Its more like a portal to shopping on Amazon, and to consume the media, like books and movies, music etc. Its geared towards that crowd and priced (loss leader) accordingly. I think she would have been find with the Fire. I think she was even doing a presentation in favor of it. What happened with that?
that was an awesome presentation I must say. But then we were all going on a 5 day vacation (10 for her as she went to Michigan first for few days). I asked her to test drive the Fire during her vacation (especially during flights). I was told by her mother that she hardly touched the kindle and either played with Ipad or her DSI. later on, even she was convinced that she can do without the Kindle

TLK iOS platform is better because of parental controls built in. Ipod touch rocks - she can play games, listen music, there are tons of educational apps and + camera for FaceTime with you.
firenze, this is what I was thinking also. Plus, because of Ipads and ipods and iphones that my wife and I have/had in last few years, she is used to that OS (not that she could not pick up on Android platform if she wants to. Kids are pretty smart)
