I recently purchased an iPod nano; however, I returned it and got a PDA instead. I feel I may need to get an iPod again or something similar where I can store the entire Quran and a whole bunch of nasheeds.
I reckon there was a thread where memebers suggested that it’s better to go for a few other devices rather than iPod as it’s just hype and there are better devices available out there.
My budget is $250 (CAD) at the moment. What are some small portable audio devices that I can get in that price range? I would definitely want something that holds 1Gig or more.
Creative Zen Micro takes iPod head to head and beats it up in everything, memory, price, features. The only thing iPod is better is the coolness factor. If you are over the iPod hype then check out Zen. Its available in many colors and is a very decent performer.
faizy, is mu vac easily available in TO? Can I have the link to the site if you don't mind?
Faisal, thanks. That's the product that was mentioned in another thread. I just gotta sort of find out how easily available it is in Toronto. Btw... is it as thin and/or portable as iPod nano?
Its very small. Like, really really small. Though, its not as thin as Nano. The thinness is part of Nano’s coolness. Ofcourse, as you have found out, the coolness is accompanied by its assorted other glitches too, including easily scratcable screen etc.
muvo 2fm: (fm radio, mp3 waghaira aur sath main ek remote control, wired) $202.99

Size WxHxD: 2.6" x 2.6" x 0.8"

btw, i have a samsung (1gig, fm radio, recorder, digital+analog encoder as in mic, radio, cd rips, 1xAAA battery runs it for 20+hrs) bestbuy sold it to me for $269.99+tax THATTIME (8 months ago), if u get a muvo micro, its better..
(i will ALWAYS prefer flash players than hard drive players… 90% LESS chances of crap happening to them because of zero-moving parts)
Are you absolutely looking for a 1gb mp3 player or could you go a bit higher aswell? If so, than i say that you should buy the nano again. I don't see how nano is overpriced, especially for something that has a colour screen, decent features, uses flash memory, easy to use interface, great customer support and great 3rd party support for additional accesories.
I can see how 60gb ipod's might be considered over priced compared to its competition but i think its safe to say that Nano is a good deal in its market. You don't seem like a person who cares much about additional features that barely ever get used and stuff of that sort so you wouldn't really require other players. Nano, like other ipods, is very user friendly so it would seem more suitable for you.
Speaking of Ipods, I heard people talking about the new Ipod that's out (or coming out) that is black and white. Supposedly, it's the best one out (size/storage wise)
E107 uses standard a^3 battery, E407 uses lition.. means, by poor planning if u're on the bus and the charge dies.. u'll b pissed.. !
btw.. i keep hearing bad stuff about sony 'music' division of sony corporation..privacy/hidden programming..in terms of checking for copyright checks in mp3 playbacks and network walkmen have some features to connect to CDDB...
UPDATE: I got Sony NW E407, but I gotta go return it as many of the mp3 files don’t work. I don’t wanna get Creative Zen Micro because frankly it’s too ugly and after reading the reviews at CNET.com, it’s extra features aren’t all that great.
Unless someone tells me how to fix the some-mp3-files-not-working problem on Sony NW E407, I’ll have no choice, but to get myself an iPod nano.
Captain Lota, I cannot afford to stay away from FutureShop. Since I’m an impulsive shopper, I go there like every week purchasing and returning stuff. They haven’t hassled me thusfar.
