I unplugged my ipod during a software update and now it’s telling me that it’s gone corrupt and I need to restore back to factory settings which means I lose all my songs. Is there a way to get around that? If I lose my songs..which it looks like I may already have.. I am going to be truly devastated. on the brink of tears wala smilie
I can recommend an extremely knowledgeable mac tecnhician who has the tools to go into a bad iPod (or any other bad macintosh hardware) and retrieve any and all data possible. Sounds like a 1-2 hour job so he probably won't charge much but there will be a small fee. He works out of his home in Mississauga.
If you restore it back to factory settings, doesn't that mean u just have to plug it back into ur computer to get the songs? Or u dn't have the songs on computer any more?
When your firmware goes corrupt, the device becomes unreadable by conventional software. All the data is still in there unharmed, you just need a more sophisticated way to access it. Restoring back to factory settings also usually requires the whole hard drive to be wiped clean.
*I use a touch, but I have never come across such corruption error. SYNCING to IPOD is oneway-sync process, and the Itunes software does not have the option to restore the songs back to ur harddrive, that is because of the copyright issues, ppl who use Itunes store, can start buying tracks/albums and then start sharing it, so its for piracy purpose.
Which IPOD are you using? Do you see a “drive” letter appeared for the IPOD once you plug it to your pc /laptop?
If you can see the drive letter, and ur PC reads the IPOD device, then you can try the following
Try the link above, study it, download the software and follow the steps. Otherwise google and you will find more ways of backing up songs from Ipod.
Since I have not tried this myself I cannot guarantee you, but I know ppl who have tried this, so if You are lucky you can get ur songs this way. We also do not know the level and how serious your IPOD has been corrupted, if it is that clusters are badly destroyed then I even doubt this backing up technique will help.
Ipod sux...the solution for your probem is go to Apple store and get your ipod exchanged. I had the same problem, even the recovery software cannot help you in your misery.
And next time go for a Sony NWZ-A818 and you will never ever touch an Ipod again.
^Really?! Here in Europe they do. Thats pathetic.
Why for like 200 and more then there is no warranty ?! And no right to exchange??
EU has set up a law where consumers are treated too well and If they are not you can sew the company in minutes.
I don't want a new ipod.. I want my songs.. I had over 400 songs I had accumulated over 3 years.. honestly.. this feels just like when I lost all my pictures.. you'd think I would learn my lesson. Frig.. must start backing EVERYTHING UP! UGH!!
ASN, I have something similar called touchcopy but it's not reading my nano.. right now when I turn it on it gives me an error message telling me to go to itunes to restore my ipod. I am refusing to do that at the moment because I have this tiny glimmer of hope that maybe my songs can still be salvaged.
I have found software online that claims to be able to restore your songs even if your ipod has been corrupted.. it's about 70 dollars which is annoying.. but i might just give that a try.. for now i'm waiting on a couple of people who may know how to fix it. :(:( sigh
if nothing works you can open a thread in audio and list all the songs you need maybe we can upload those songs. i got abt 1200 songs in my ipod. im sure i will be able to contribute. :)
I had used yamipod to make a backup of my iPod about a year ago. Download it and see if it can read and copy stuff from your iPod. yamipod is free to download and use.
