Guys, I have ALWAYS been very anti-apple but I have to hand it to them, they got it right with this product. They have revolutionized the way we think about computing and the next generation will not remember the keyboard mouse interface. We love our iPad. Here are some ways we use it:
Begum reads her CME articles on it, perfectly fine PDF reader
Begum does her web surfing and facebooking on it
Begum uses it when cooking to look up her recipes and time things
Begum uses it to read e-books
I use the Netflix app all the time, when begum is watching Glee, I’ll watch my thing on Netflix but we’re in the same room snuggling, I use Netflix right before bed
I use it on the crapper, this is the best crapper friendly device out there
I use it to watch old Pakistani dramas on youtube when eating alone without the family
I use it to listen to music, play games, and read on flights
We have a ton of children’s apps on it for coloring and Disney princess dress up games, we’ve let Lila use the iPad when we’re on a long flight, it keeps her entertained for hours. It has a few Disney movies on it, as well as a bunch of games, it’s like carrying a bagful of children’s crap in a nice small package.
LOVE IT!
EDIT: Forgot to mention the ridiculously long battery life. We flew from Toronto to Rome, 9 hours on a 76% charge, the iPad was used for about 6-7 hours between the three of us, we got off the plane with still 18% charge. Remarkable.
To add to the above list:
-I have it with me with reference books on it (I guess this could be bundled in with the PDF point Akhmed made). An engineer is never without some of those
-Newspaper replacement: Between Flipboard, online news sites conveniently readable the need for newspapers is obsolete
-The Verizon Fios app lets me see the TV guide, tune the box and record shows like never before. I also have the SlingBox App that lets me watch live and DVR’d TV
-Remote Desktop / Citrix apps let’s me administrative tasks which were possible but always cumbersome on the phone sized screen
I got one for my birthday n since I got that I stopped using my laptop . I bought the notes/numbers/key note applications for office work. The only other applications I paid for were the Quran Tafseer in english and urdu. Other then that it’s only the books that I pay for (yeah I am cheap :P)
haaN yaar bari boriyat ho rahi thee last night - socha duniya ka kuuch bhala kiya jaaye - besides, these iPad users are so nikammey
Si4e, I used this setting on my iPhone a while ago, but that DYAC website is hilarious. I can’t imagine sending official emails with autocorrect running amok.
One thing that irritates me about Ipad and Iphone is that there is no ‘read all’ option available for your emails to turn up as read. You have to literally go into each and every email.
Ok till now, I was not pretty convinced about the magazine readings on Ipad. Last night I downloaded the app Zinio and bought one year subscription of my fav magazine PC Mag (that is now only available in digital format). I must admit that I just could not put my ipad down. I think I read 50% of the magazine last night. Most probably I am going to finish it tonight. It was just awesome. From now, no paper subscription for me (except for PC World as its not available in digital format however the sister publication MacWorld is, which is pretty odd)
