I take it to the pool when the kids swim, I take it for shopping as my list is on there 
I am going green you know… then I take it to drop my kid off in case there’s a traffic jam you know and I need entertainment 
, and yeah…I’ve even taken it to the loo…you never know what you might remember 
.

For lists and notes I use Evernote. Never miss a beat. Its available for all platforms.
I dont have the 3g version iPad so its not always on (technically) but I can turn on wifi access point on my phone..
Speaking of loo, Jobs initially said that he doesn’t want to make a bathroom device. He always makes these statements and makes exactly that same thing.

I want to buy an ipad2 but there is no money in this years budget. Next year they will come out with ipad3 and then I will not have money in my budget or it.

Tofi, I also went for the wifi only version. Why spend £100 more and sign another data contract, when I can use my phone as personal hotspot.

I dont have phones that can create personal hotspots, so our first ipad (which is ipad2) is wifi + 3G ..but we dont use the 3G part except when we go out of town.
second one is just wifi.

I already had an iPhone 4 and it allows phone being used as wifi hotspot. Since I’ll always have my phone and iPad with me, when I am out and about - it’s logical to have just one contract for phone, and pay a bit extra each month on same contract, than signing two contracts for different contract terms.

I just have wifi as well. Unlike TLK I do have an Android phone which i can setup as a wifi access point so I’m never at a loss of connectivity.
The one app that I really wanted to try on iPad is the Flipboard. I’m totally impressed. Not only can you create sections of various genres of news but you can also create sections from your Facebook and Twitter feeds.
With the Twitter feeds it doesn’t just bring up tweets but also sites that are tweeted as links. For instance if you’re following me every link I might include in my tweets would have each site come up as a magazine. Just fabulous stuff.

^ although I can see the attraction of an application like flipboard… I personally wouldn’t use something like this cuz I consider it information overload. I read tweets because they’re short and nice and if the tweet intrigues me, then I click on the link. I mean, why have the link open already without me deciding whether I wanna read it or not. It kinda defies the purpose of 140 character life/interest streams. I use tweetdeck to categorize the people I follow according to my preferences - e.g. friends and family, work colleagues, visionaries etc. to allow me to prioritize what tweets I’m going to read when. Chances are that I’ll open links from visionaries but not as many from friends and family. So twitter is about reducing information overload for me… I wanna know, but let me decide what I wanna know without having to flip through pages. I guess, to each his own…

My understanding of twitter is that I get the info from peers who I look up to, who would probably have the info that I might be interested in. This could be family related and non-professional items as well. Like you, I also divide up my Tweetdeck into those categories.
Flipboard gives me all those tweets as headlines with already filled in stories. I can still skim the headlines without reading the articles, but some articles may have words which I may not see if I was just reading tweets from my peers who may not be headlining the article with the right words. Most are not journalist so coming up with the right headlines are not their day job.
Another way this is different is in that its on a tablet, which I probably will have in my hands and my thumb poised at exactly above the right spot so a matter of a few millimeters. I’m not a big fan boy of Apple but I definitely am a fanboy of gadgets that work well and help me with my laziness. After the numerous tablets I’ve used, including Android and Windows based ones, the iPad feels very nice. I’m still going to keep improving it and increase as much functionality, but for now its doing the work that was promised and more. I’m going to start listing out the various things I’ve started doing with it in the last day or so that I’ve had it.
I’d repeat what you (LC) said to me once. The sign of a good device/software is that once you use it you start wondering how you were able to get by without it.

^ aah - thanks for explaining the features of flipboard a little more. It makes a little more sense now, and it may be something that I’d even consider adopting if I got an iPad.
