Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
Miandad was great but he too left dissgrace. In 95 world cup he was hardly a batsman at all and showed a dismal performance.
Agreed but even in 1996 WC he scored a fifty against England and a battling 38 against India in QF. Mind you he was 39 years old then, i.e 2 years older than Inzi is now
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
Miandad was better than Inzi, the best Cricket has ever produced. He not only maintained his average in Test, ODI and WC, but also won us one.
What's up with Inzi should have been harassed? It is one of the lowest things about us. We want accountability from our cricket players, how about show same passion for better schools and hospitals? Sports are sports...grow up for once in your life. What would that harassment give you? A low grade satisfaction of "I told you so". I think he did great to retire knowing how we are as people in these situations; we did not even spared legend like Wasim after '96 and '99.
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
This will be my last post on the Wcup subject, though its also my first:
The whole nation is extremely mad at our team's performance. I admit, I was too. I severely criticized his captiancy at times and blew alot of steam. I did alot of thinking today, infact I was so distracted at work because of what happened in the last few days. This post comes straight from my heart. After hearing Inzi's parting words, I cannot help it but say this. Inzimam, you will always be one of the most beloved cricketers in the Pakistani side, and I for one will always be your fan, and have fogiven you for the lucklustre performance in this world cup, or any other match whatsoever. We were lucky to have a batsman of your calliber in our team, and you have done this nation a great service with your outstanding talent and sportsmanship. For almost two decades you have carried out vulnerable middle order and entertained us with your heroics. Even while not performing it was fun watching you on the field, be it your breath taking catches or getting mad at suspect decisions. You always brought a smile to peoples faces.
Inzi, you were and always will be my favourite Pakistani batsman of all times, not because you broke all the records or overshadowed others, because you were the batting legend I grew up watching from the start to the end. I for one will miss you and it wont be the same for me without Inzi batting at that number five position. Wishing you a happy and a prosperous retired life, and I hope we get to see you coach the team and help them train batsmen of your class (a very difficult feat).
My request to everyone, lets be gracious and merciful and forgive the Pakistani team. This is a sport, and there are ups and downs, and every team goes through a very rough patch, and bounces back. Lets show the spirits we showed in 1987 when Pakistan lost the semi-final against Australia despite being the favourites, and still got a standing ovation.

extremely well said!!

Is he still going to ruin Test Matches??

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
What a batsman but what an exit, really terrible. To me, he is greatest batsman (Pakistan) and should be counted in list of all time greats. Yeah he didn't have great performances in last 3 world cups, but WC is not the only measure for a great batsman, he saved our behinds many many times and won us games many many times, he wasn't called sleeping giant for no reason. After Miandad we had another hero to replace him (Inzi), now Yousuf has to take that role and replace Inzi (in batting). May he be successful and find peace in whatever he does (other than Test cricket).

When will we ever allow our legends to bid farewell with the respect they deserve? With idiotic fans like 21165, imran whatever his name is, alphamale etc., no wonder almost all of our legends just faded away without getting the farewell they truly deserved. Look at the farewell McGrath and Warne received and compare it to how Wasim and Waqar were treated at the end of their careers. The same will happen with Inzi, which is quite shameful and a f'ing disgrace to be honest.

Agree with you - though to be honest i have been one of his critics after the first game but then again he doesnt deserve all this crap either - its not only his job to play good and make the team win but also other players responsibility - i agree our players have been the reason why pakistan's star is shining in the cricket world but compared to what other countries give to their players in return our nation only disgraces them and insults them infront of other people from other countries who have respect for them - after that they and their works are forgotten like nothing ever happened while other players keep on getting praises for even the littlest things they do..

What ever you said is in past tense ...we should live in present. We have not seen such performance from him for the last many years, atleast 3-4 years....McGrath/Warne etc were at their best at their exit.
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
Doesn’t this pic say it all ??Somehow our players think that once they reach their top they do not have to put much effort in…We should not be living in the past & continue on glorifying that era…Players like Warne & McGrath were still as Zealous as they were in their initial days & had put same effort in as they had before.

Yes you are right. The jokers in the Pakistan become superstars after few good performances, publicity and fame gets to their head.

And where does that not happen. Look at India or even England. A guy has only to score a century against Bermuda and is hailed by the English press as the next Bradman. Happens everywhere.

Exactly. Sports fanatics express themselves per local culture and customs. But thats what they are truly inside "fanatics". They will accept one thing alone, and that is victory for their TIN soldiers from which they get a surge of egos and in national spirits. If they don't see it, then they are the worst you would like to be next to on the sorry day.

Yes true, however players from countries such as Australia, England, New Zeland & South Africa are handled so professionally that they can’t sit back and rely on their past performance and glory.
Also, for example if someone shows unprofessinal conduct or is in breach of team discipline regadless of how bigger star he may be than they will not get away with it all the time. As you know Flintoff is a prime example of this.
Can you ever imagine the Pakistan management taking such an action against someone like Shoiab Actor?
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
Inzamam has done well in the past & he has been given credit for that too.I am sure he is at peace with his resignation & i fully support him.
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
Oh yeah, that picture says it all. A nation of jaahils and ignorant shmucks, which your responses seem to typify.
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
May Allah give you health my friend.

thanks for the kind wishes bro
Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket
Thank you Inzi for everything :k:
