Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

I think he will. Just in memory of Bob. Otherwise he wouldnt have.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

A great player as a batsmen one of the best Pakistan has seen. The amount of time he has saved Pakistan from defeat are numerous and will always be remembered for that. Hats off to him as the leading batsmen and the service he provided to Pakistan since 1992. Thank you Inzi.

As a captain debatable whether he was even mediocre. As a captain a sad end.

Too many things happening too fast.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

He was a good batsman and he should not be treated that way magar khuch logo ki kismat hi kharab hoti hai.
I think he should get a full retirement.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

I dont know what to say
Its an end of an era - and I have tears in my eyes

We as pakistanis are very very different from others when it comes to expressing our emotions. We may bash our team, curse our team, call them names... but deep down inside we love them to bits .. every one of them

And if someone else dares to even point a finger at our team, we would retaliate with all our might. No one else is allowed to bash our team except us.

Anyway - it was offtopic

Inzamam is a legend and will remain so...
This temporary phase will go away, once we get over the mourning period.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

May Allah give you health my friend.

I agree that it has been really tough for last three months both inside cricket and outside cricket for our nation but every crisis also provides you with an oppurtunity and hopefully we will at least try to sieze upon it. Inshallah. But it is really depressing right now.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Yet another sad news this weekend. He will remain a legend, always, and will be greatly missed.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

In light of the sudden passing away of Bob Woolmer, couldn't Inzi have waited a few more days to make this announcement.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Darkest hours and days in the history of Pakistan and Pakistan Cricket.

However, we could have seen this decision a year ago with more fortunate outcomes.
Inzi should continue TEST cricket liek most KK ppl would agree. Right decision taken.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Just one loss and that much happened... Woolmer collapsed to death, Inzy retires from ODI cricket. Well, definitely a lot is happening in Pakistani cricket since that sad, sad day that booked the Pakistani team their tickets back home. I really hope that Inzy improves his running ability during his Test cricket career, although I'm pretty much neutral about his move to resign. I surely hope that Ireland will lose terribly in their next game.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

I was wondering the same thing.

Talk about sliding it under the carpet :hoonh:

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Inzi should have continued to play as a batsman. He should have resigned from captaincy only. Great loss for pak cricket. He still had many years left in him.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

I had hoped his career wouldn't end on such a note. Unfortunately, this is as low as it gets. Take it easy Inzi, you are still a legend in my eyes.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

inzi remains a legend*.*

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

 for Inzi. He was, is and will always be a legend for me and for all world. He was one of the best batsmen ever graced the face of Earth. We will miss him so much on the cricket world. I hope he continue to entertain us for sometime in TEST cricket world!

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Hope he stays on for tests.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

a great batsman who has won Pakistan more games than anyone else. its disappointing he has to leave like this.

Its sad he couldn't win us this world cup, but he won us 92 world cup which no one will forget.

**The young tiger mauls New Zealand, Auckland, 1992

** The great World Cup dream seemed to be turning into a nightmare as Pakistan needed an improbable 123 runs in the final 15 overs. That was when Inzamam-ul-Haq chose to script a fantasy. Imran Khan had told his team-mates to play like 'cornered tigers' in the tournament but he himself had played like a wounded tiger that day. His laborious 43, as Pakistan chased 263, took a time-consuming 93 balls. The other old hand, Javed Miandad, was still in the middle when a young Inzamam entered the arena.

One man had been there and done that while the other was itching to get a taste of the big hunt. It was a lethal combination. With Miandad constantly goading him, the feisty Inzamam went berserk. The pair put on 87 runs in 10 overs as the New Zealanders were stunned into surrender. Martin Crowe, who had a dream Cup till that night, was off the field for the Pakistan innings due to a hamstring injury and his deputy, John Wright, was a mute witness to the carnage under lights. Even their surprise weapon, Dipak Patel, whose opening eight overs had yielded a miserly 28, leaked 22 when he returned for his last two.

Inzamam was simply unstoppable that day. He would shuffle to off and heave a full-length delivery over midwicket and when the bowlers dragged it further outside off, he would unfurl a fierce cut. Although he was run out 36 runs short of the win, he had by then waltzed into the public imagination. The unknown Inzamam-ul-Haq would thereafter be Inzi, a household name.

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

inzi you will be sorely missed...world cricket has never and will never be able to produce a batsman of your stature!

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Prospect for future Pakistan captain other than Younis Khan?

Two vacancies in Pakistani team that no body wants.... great.

As far as Inzi, I will miss him greatly. :(

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

Despite every thing and all the losses , i still really bad ... its a sad end to a legendary players ODI career. I sincerly hope that PCB lets him play Test cricket for some more time. He is a living legend and a great man . I will miss him in ODIs no matter what ...no Inzi at # 5 any more :(

Re: Inzimam retires from One Day cricket

its such a bad time for pakistan :(
