This is not a discussion on his tactical awareness, but to say that the boys seem to fall behind him as a unit, unlike so many other captain’s we have had. He seems a fair and decent guy, unlikely to practice favouritism in the way the great W’s did.
I dont get what your trying to say. Akhtar is never in a position to practice favoritism, not being skipper. And Inzi surely doesnt favor Shoaib, he dropped him for 5 tests!
Shoaib lovers accuse Inzi of dropping Shoaib again and again, from India/WI series etc, due to his personal differences with him.. a case of favouritism (or anti-favouritism).
I agree with you Inzi isnt the sort of guy who would ruin someone else's career for his own personal differences with that person. Shoaib lovers find that hard to believe.
pakistan wins- inzi is god!
pakistan lose- inzi should be hanged!
I agree wholeheartedly that the team is united behind him and all the other players seem to respect him, but he is one of the worst captain tactically. His head is filled with grade A cow manure.
Some people are born captains.. like Imran, Miandad. Others dont have this gift at birth and they have to strive a bit harder to stamp their authority. Inzi is one such kind.
I would rather go and lose a game that i enjoyed playing with a hard-worker-team-player captain than win a game with dictator captains like imran wasim etc.
Have you ever seen the joy in inzi’s eyes when a bowler gets a wicket? He goes up to the bowler and gives him the tightest bear hug ever and spins him round and round. Which other captain have you seen do that? Only somebody who feels his teammates as family would do that. Nobody ever dared hugging Imran like that except maybe miandad.. because Imran was oh so high and most gracious and his lordship his majesty yada yada yada.
So yes Inzi has his tactical fallacies but overall he’s managed to gain respect of his team without having to instill fear in them.
Here’s an Inzi quote from a recent interview after his 100th test in India earlier this year. The reporter said to him that people accuse you of being a soft captain and you dont punish misfields etc very harshly. Why is that? So inzi replied that “in international matches you have billions of eyes around the world set on each player. If someone makes a mistake i know its not their fault because i personally know that he is giving his 110%. And to scold him infront of millinos of viewers, i dont feel right hurting someone’s reputation like that.” Would any of the tactically correct captains of Pakistan’s past think like that? I highly doubt it!
i don't think i will agree with the statement that Inzi is tactically not sound. Even in this match he has made the changes at the right time and has produced result which nobody was thinking.
Surely one can say that he is a bit defensive tactically ... But it will pretty harsh to say that he is not sound tactically. I think we are not realizing the ture increment in his captaincy tactics because we are becoming more and more consistent.:)
I surely believe that he is the one guy who has gained most in his captaincy tactics in the last yr or so. Although i still believe that he needs to be a bit more aggressive but as long as his techniques are working why change them..:)
he is indeed the best captian in recent times who believes so much in his team and himself is deleievering since he took over captiancy. its true that he has taken time in learning the secrets of the trade but now he is as best as any other.
Captain Lota,
The actor is one of the reasons Inzi is looking tall today, had it not been his fiery spell Inzi wud have been walking up to the podium (once again) as the losing captain. Now take the WI series for example, it was Inzi’s obstinance and Woolmers strategy which kept Shoaib out of that tour and cost Pakistan its first and aonly test series win on that soil. Now this has said millions of times, and u will not agree cause u choose not to…but truth is and will remain that nobody is perfect, we shud accept that and treat and judge ppl (players) on that basis.
As for Inzi’s captiancy, well his performance in one days has been exceptional but test match performance demand much more imagination and commitment with specialists.
captain lota... i agree on your inzi points .... n i luv the way he treats his "boys"... but to call imran names was un needed... i think we can praise inzi without putting down anyone else...
i liked that quote by inzi about the yelling on players... he is very caring.. he just doesn't want to create a drama on the field and wants to focus on the game...
