Re: Introductions

Maybe this is the right/wrong post for advice, but I see so many guppies with experience in IT industry. I am currently working for Insurance firm as a Quality Assurance Analyst/Business Analyst. Since our department is small, I get to touch upon several different aspects....from smoke/functional/regression etc testing....also i lead bug/defect tracking meetings... write test cases/test plans...i have worked on BRD's...jad sessions..etc meeting with managers/users/Developers..but i need advice on courses/certifications I can take to progress in my career.

I was considering some Quality Assurance certifications and possible starting with Green Belt to move on...but I hear negative things about how its not worth it. Anyways, anyone who has been in this field, plz advise courses to take to progress..or even a path to take....to advance in career.

What is in demand in the market. On a side note I am/was persuing my MBA in IT mgmt, before delivery of my baby. Its on hold for a little while, but Inshallah in Fall i will take just 1 class a semester. What's in demand these days in term of MBA specialization?

Wow. This was written about 4 years ago.

I completed my English major in 2007 (creative writing concentration) and started taking accounting and economics classes. I took them initially as electives and just kept going as if it were my major. I graduated several months ago with a Bachelor of arts in English and a minor in Accounting.
I got a job in the mutual fund industry several weeks after graduation, however, that was temporary and not my cup of tea at all. I'm still looking for work and do intend on completing my CPA (InshAllah)
