Woah people! I think you need decent mattresses as well. The ones with springs are so creaky and stuff.
Also, what's worse is if your in-laws come and stay with you and you start hearing creaking noises from their room. CRINGE!!!!
My fiance has said straight up that I will be living with his mother. So I need some good ideas as well! However, he did say we would move to the basement of the house to have some "privacy" so I understood what he was trying to say ;)

i live with my in laws and we sometimes have very confusing convos that leaves us both parties wondering if the other side knows and how much they DO know..
for instance.. my mil is in the habit of asking me now and then, first thing in the morning.. if i have to shower.
it always leaves me confused! does she know? how does she know? was i loud? did they hear anything?
and sometimes if nothing has been done the night before, i just erupt with a 'but we didnt do anything!' which has often been met with a what?! kinda look from my mil, which leaves me in turn thinking.. oh damn, maybe she didnt mean anything like that.. but now she knows cuz i just said it.. damn damn damn
its honestly not the best of set ups .. living in a joint family system and being intimate..
they dont mind hte peck here and there or the hugging.. but bedroom action always leaves me and the husband edgy..
in the beginning of our marriage.. we wouldnt be all that intimate cuz then taht would mean showering the nexzt day and i just got it into my head that in laws would relate showering to having done the deed the prev night...dailiy showers meaning we were animals doing it every night... the husband thought it quite rude of me to think his parents were perverts like that .. haha
its just no good at all :D

I HAVE to shower immediately, so it's even more awkward when I'm going off for a shower at midnight.
Talking of logistical nightmares, I have a friend who has just ONE washroom in his home (in Pakistan). A common washroom not in bedroom i.e … living with parents and other 3 brothers and sisters (all in teens)…ulla ka patha dulhan rukhsat ker k ghar lai gaya tha …do the math 
Not that he does not have money, he used to work with me in US and surely could have afforded week long stay at 5 Start hotel and now he regret it!
See…and when we ladies complain about at the very least getting a hotel room for our rukhsati instead of going to the family home, u gusy complain about us being nahkhray wali. 
Well Hotel is the best choice off course and separate room with attached bath is OK if hotel cant be arranged, but common washroom …aaah …
