A few years ago on GS I mentioned the name of a boy I had a crush on in school some 15 years ago. The reason why I mentioned the name was because we were talking about funny names in a thread, and I spelt his out. Now I find this person on a wonderful site called facebook, and he messaged me a few days ago asking if I’m cat-woman on gupshup. Figures a few years ago he googled his name to find a link to my wonderful post. It was agonisingly embarassing, but the good thing that came out of it was that he admitted to having liked me too.
Another thing that happened to me was I was introduced to a potential rishta, as we were all sat over chai and samosay in the lounge with his parents there, he casually says to me that I look familiar. It figures we had chatted a few years prior on a certain website and we were still on each others buddy lists. I could have died there and then. Its a small world - I say its small, because I was in a foreign country, had only been there 3 months, and he had come over from his city just for that weekend to meet a horde of potential rishtas with his parents.
Not quite an internet mishap; but a Pakistani girl who works with me once turned up for a job interview to find that her interviewer was a guy who sent a rishta for her a few year earlier who she turned down!!!
^.. she got the job?
again a real life mishap.. one of our friend's ex girlfriend moved to his right and ex wife moved to the left of his home.... interestingly, both moved there after him without knowing that he lives there already
groovychick, no it did not work out, and we didnt speak again after that, however we are still on each others buddy lists on the same website, and by the looks of it, hes still single.

I said alot of stupid things abt someone when I first joined, I hope hope hope hope that person will never find this website, crap i dont even remember if i mentioned their name. Arghhh
its funny but its also weird to read the ramblings of someone you know in real life- i came across my brother's postings on some tech forum a while ago. i always knew he was a nerd, i had no idea how much of a nerd though! :P
i used to post on a forum initially based out of australia and i've still kept in touch with some of the other members even though we're scattered all over the world. the internet is cool like that. and just the other day, my best friend from middle school found me, and we lost touch over 10 years ago!
I met my best friend from thrid grade (from my elementary school in Kharader Karachi) in a parking lot of a vietnamese grocery store in Dallas after almost 23 years. She recognized me and I had no idea who she was until she introduced herself to me. I had always thought she was probably married to some rich memon guy and has 5 kids already. And here she is, workin in a teaching job at a public elmentary school in Dallas.
No , they happen to everyone .
a guy came to my house wid his family, for some odd reasons , and on talking to him i felt i already knew him
i think he even figured out , but did not mention :D
Once I was very active on a desi forum and one day my friend asked me directly whether I was xxx (mnetioning my nick) and I was literally chocked that how the earth could she figure it out.
I had only shared my opinion on certain issues but hey it could have been anyone!!!
Later the same friend was contacted by other ppl I knew who were asking her if it was me....
there can be some truly refreshing incidents too.
I received two emails in the begining of this year from two of my class fellows from the primary and secondary schools.
Both the guys searched for my name and contacted me. Now happily married and settled in the US, they were overjoyed to know that they found the right person they have been looking for.
For me, it was really a humbling experience to know that my childhood friends and acquaintences from eons ago, have not only remembered me but they have been trying to trace me. The respect, the joy, the excitement was palpable from their mails.
