since my return fom hospital i have been finding it difficult to sleep at night, every 2 hrs or so i suddenly wake up and i feel so hot, i was recommended by a friend to take some sleeping tablets, yet i don’t see how this is going to cure what i am going through, as my syptoms that cause me to wake up at night are heat related and i wake up in a sweat and feel extrememly hot, even though i it’s like 4oC in my room at night.
Shame, it must be the after effects which im sure will pass in a few days. Glad to see you’re up and about
Ironically today someone just bought me a magnetic bracelet which is meant to help with pain and inability to sleep at night - dont think that would help with you feeling hot and stuff.
Khumar, i am. Last night i work at 4.30am, it took me almost 2 full hours to get to sleep again. I took a cold shower and all and that still didn't help.
It's definitely associated to your mental state then :) when that happens, just get up, walk around and stretch a bit (if you can), get some fresh air. Go back to bed once you feel relaxed.
It could also be because you're sleeping during the day, so try not to sleep too much during the day, so that you can sleep at night.
I injured myself recently and my cousin lent me a CD which you play at night to help your mind heal your body. Try to get some meditative stuff. I find playing the recitation of the quran also helps.
I hope this isn't the reason why you're not falling asleep, but your temp regulation centers could be affected due to the accident. Make sure you get that checked out.
As for the sleeping, go the desi way, ie carbs. Carbs, like bread, roti really make you sleepy. Try to cut back on all the caffiene and any other kind of foods that could keep you up. Warm milk does miracles. If warms bugs you, try cold. Oh, and don't eat sugars.
I can't think of anything else right now. When I do i'll be sure to inform you.
Hey Orpheus What Happened...u had an accident....I hope u r fine, which i suppose sound like u r ...apart fromm the Insomnia...I hope that goes away as soon as u get back into your old routine...May Allah Heal u completely...
Orpheus, i have the same problem. Ever since i have been diagnosed i sleep only 3 hours a day and that i force myself.. (Yet i feel very energetic throughout the day)
i am recovering back slowly by staying positive and doing alot of workout during the day so that my body and mind gets tired that way i have been able to pull it to 4hours of sleep.. so it will be slow process i guess
Good Luck!!! PM me if you need any suggestion or have some tips for moi :)
actually i was taking 3 pills a day (2 of them were right before bed time) . Now i am taking 1 pill and i do blame the pill but still have to get used to it. i find it amazing that i am not that lazy during the day .. i work, study, go to gym as well so not sure wht the hell is going on with me
im sure it’s related to the accident…dont resort to sleeping pills because this will nvr cure insomnia…in fact it will make it worse once you are off of it. Sleeping pills become addictive…your body eventually depends on it to get a good nights sleep.
Your doctor will be able to give you the best advice (hopefully).
If all else fails…you can always join me and Khumar for a yahoo chat session
Orpheus, welcome back dude...Inshallah Taala you will be fully recovered soon. You said you have tried taking cold showers, i thought it was hot shower that relaxes your body and makes you sleepy.
I also have similar problem. So what i do is drink a warm glass of milk. Usually within 15 minutes i fall asleep again. If you want, you can try this as well.
I've been battling this problem ever since number 2 son was born!! :(
I have lots I can tell you, things like when you wake up, do not stay in bed. Go into another room, read a book, watch tv till you're tired again but dont watch tv in bed. No caffeine. Exercise at least 3 hours a week.
NOT ONE of these things helped me but its what my doc recommended.
My "body clock" is just skrewed since I had 3 babies very close together and my clock is set to wake for feedings n diapers. although THEY sleep thru the nite now, I still wake every 3 hours or so. cant get back to sleep for at least an hour.
Its a tough thing. I've tried everything but I do take a "benadryl" capsule about once every week or two and I get a really lovely full nite of sleep. Yes, its not a good thing to do but I keep an eye on frequency and its just so necessary to get some rem occasionally! I have a feeling that if I used sleeping pills for a week or so, every night, then my "body clock" would re-set itself and let me get more normal sleep...I just havent worked up the courage to request it from my doc yet.
Anyway, if it is that you get uncomfortably hot, try going to sleep with a fan blowing ... you can get a fan with "Low, med, high"...the low setting is prob fine. If you get "night sweats", the fan will quickly dry you up and maybe allow you to sleep thru it.
I wish you much luck.
I think its just the side effects of medication u are taking, swetaing or feeling hot.Just keep urself calm and drink water and don't drink any caffiene after 4 or 5 pm ,sometimes caffiene don't let u sleep also.I hope u should tell ur doc about that.GET WELL SOON
