Indo-pak, why not? (Ramiz, Waqar, Manjrekar)

a reply

"We can earn 11 million dollars in 20 days of cricket with India and it is imperative and important that India plays Pakistan," said Raja, who led a Pakistan team in 1997-98 to feature in Indias Independence Cup."

Well whtever the govt's might say or try to imply the answer lies in the above mentioned paragraph, which was taken from the article already posted here. We all know that the govt is taking the stance that Pakistan govt is sponsoring the terrorism, now just listen, Indian govt can't do anything abt it, but not playing Pakistan in Cricket does hurts pretty bad financially. Playing in Hockey, KAbaddi or any other game doesn't matters, because those games don't produce that kinda money. There is more to this 11 million dollars..We all know abt underground betting, Hawala and moeny laundering..

^^ So you do agree that Indians are not playing becasue they want PCB to be financially hurt, and it has nothing to do with the so called cross border terrorism. As you mentioned Indian goevernment cant do anything about it, and quite frankly PCB cant do **** about any of that either. So Indian government is playing the "everything is fair in love & war" game. The only problem is when we play that game (Kargil) then the India government really dont like it, but its ok when they play it???

oho, kee kitta iss thread noo :smack: thansk for clearing the mess up Ehsan bhai!

LahoriMunda, you brought JindMahis perspective to its logical end :k: Though i dont think that Indian board or govt is doing it to deprive pakistan of money but if Indians think the same way, what can we do ?

Lahorimunda - Well you are not liking it either, Are you ??

Jind_mahi - Good Post. :k:

Yeah right..every survey I have read or seen just says the opposite. Here is one for example.. Should India-Pakistan cricket resume?

please see for yourself how many of us want our team to play Pak.

Not at all. But one can guess the nationality and loyalties of the majority of visitors by the feedback in other surveys that are performed on the site. Now I m not saying that other nationals don’t visit the site, but majority of the visitors are Indian.

My point was (and is) only that Majority of Indians do want to resume cricketing ties with Pakistan. Of course some are against it like you. Having difference of opinion is quite natural, after all India is a nation of over 1000 million people.

"A war like situation on the border, and cricket between the two countries doesn’t make sense. The Indian government is correct in showing its disapproval of the ‘hate India’ regime in Pakistan. "
Nikhil, **India ** -NO

"If something should happen to the Indian team…who is responsible? And what is the use of taking any responsibility after the damage is done? I think the Indian government is doing the right thing and it is better to be safe than sorry! "
Iyer, ** India ** NO

"When no one in the world wants to play cricket in Pakistan including New Zealand, Australia, West Indies etc… How can anyone (ICC) possibly ask India to do the same? "
Bhupathy, Erode,** India ** NO

"I agree with the decision fully. The last time we played a full series there (in '89) oranges, etc, were thrown at the players, in a hockey match there in the 90’s our flag was burnt. Added to that is the thousands killed every year in Kashmir.

If England and New Zealand (who haven’t lost a single civilian to Zimbabwe and Kenya) can choose not to visit those countries, we have more right to do so. "
BB, **India ** NO

"There is no justification to use the political situation to not have sporting relations. Only more normalizing relations between the people can force both governments into making compromises over political problems.

India should play Pakistan, but for security reasons they should play in another country. "
Suryanarayan Ganesh,** India ** YES

“It’s an insane situation - the possibility of war, even nuclear exchange, makes cricket out of the question.”
Harinder Jadwani, Canada/**India ** NO

"There was a slight chance of India playing cricket in Pakistan after India’s successful World Cup matches. This favourable situation was blown up by Pakistan based terrorists who killed 24 Kashmiri people last week. India cannot be blamed for not playing. "
George, **India ** NO

That is 6 NO and 1 YES. I am not even counting the Indians who live outside INDIA.

Thanks Chora for that poll, I was looking for it for a long time.

And its sad to see that you are actually pick and choosing the comments made on that site, everyone knows, that 99% of the Indian population want resumption ties with Pakistan.

And how do we know if all those people who said NO isn't you alone.

What do you think Pakis do when Cricinfo gets stuck ? Well Hit the Cricketnext poll button.

99% Hmmm Well good to see you coming down 1%. If we believe you than Cricketnext is also wrong because that poll also doesn’t show 99%.

Here is one more link from BBC, Read it and WEEP.

Here is more :-

From Outlook India - http://www.outlookindia.com/submain1.asp?mode=25&refer=376&rcount=1

Waisay I was prepared to give the Indian public the benefit of the doubt and believe they weren’t made of the same stock but if you insist these polls are representative of Indian public I guess they must all be religious bigots as well, after all they did vote in the Hindutvas.

Personally I still like to believe that Indian people are better than that though and most would want to resume cricket ties.

Three cheers for reasonable Sanjay Manjrekar who surely represents the tolerant and humane face of India :k: :k: :k:

Note: 1-2 replies were suggesting that “Either we should cut all ties with Pakistan, in all games and at all levels. No matter 3 nation cricket tourney or a hockey game, or we should play cricket series too”. I counted that as YES. Rightly so na?

Xtreme mian, Relax. This is not the first time India-Pakistan have stopped plaing cricket and when we were not playing BJP wasn't even born so get over your BJP phobia - It hasn't done anything to harm pakis.

As for PCB, You are comparing Apples with Oranges. PCB can't be compared to Indian govt. but to BCCI. Anyways, If you haven't figured out the difference then let me enlighten you , Indian Govt is the elected representatives of the People of India unlike the hostile army dictators of PCB.

You calling us bigot is a real example of pot calling the Kettle Black. I have a right to have my opinion on the India-Pakistan cricket issue and it doesn't make me a religious bigot. And if it does, then you are a bigger bigot.

As far as Sanjay Manjrekar's views are concerned - rest assured, he wont be called a traitor in India, he is still respected for what he has done for India.

Umair316 - People from Pakistan dont count as citizens of India, Do they ?
