OK. Let us look at the context. Per the post, Mr. Modi was asked if he regretted how he handled the riots.

And his answer - my biggest regret is how I handled the media.

If that was his biggest regret in “RESPONSE” to a direct" question, it indicates he did care too much about media perception.

He goofed again. He should have said I handled riots to the best of my abilities and I have no regrets about it but I regret that I did not handle media well enough. He is not a man of few words. He knows how to talk. He never apologized for massacre of Muslims in Gujarat. He could say I was not responsible for or cause of Gujarat riots but I am sorry that all this happened on my watch. Great politicians are always apologizing for no reason at all. He is very arrogant.
