MEERUTH: Almost 130 students were rusticated from an Indian University for celebrating Pakistan’s victory in an Asia Cup cricket match over India.
Hindu extremist groups could not swallow such celebration from students of disputed territory between Pakistan and India and attacked the Kashmiri students’ hostel to take revenge.
University administration went ahead to expel all 130 students and charged them with a penalty of 5000 each while announcing that no Kashmiri student will be granted admission in the university this year.
The administration said that if these students love Pakistan so much, they should complete their education there.
Pakistan’s cricket team beat India on Sunday in an Asia Cup match with Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi hitting two sixes in the last over after which Pakistanis and Kashmiris celebrated on both sides of the border.

Dismissing reports of ‘clashes’ at a college in Meerut following nail biting Indo-Pak cricket match, scores of parents whose children are pursuing different courses at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Meerut Tuesday refuted the news item carried in section of press regarding the thrashing of Kashmiri students throwing them out of Varsity at the end of the matchon Sunday night.
According to CNS, the parents assembled at Press Enclave and told reporters that Kashmiri students were ‘advised’ to spend some days outside the Varsity till ‘the matter is resolved amicably’.
“They were neither thrashed nor were expelled. Actually the administration of Subharti University had taken timely step to avoid any untoward incident which may have otherwise occurred,” one of parents from Bandipora whose son pursues MCA in the said University said.
They further said that University administration provided security to the Kashmiri students on their way to Ghaziabad. “All the students have returned to the Varsity and the issue has been resolved amicably,” they said adding that only 73 Kashmiri students are pursuing different courses in the said University.

but seriously..i was just responding to all this chotay dil walay hindu type comments…i mean we all know that punjabi students cannot even attend balochi institutions anymore in Baluchistan… shias cannot even imagine crossing a sunni mosque…so things are not exactly perfect in this baray dil walay country and we shd stay away from these type of topics…
and same is true about India who has its own racial problems…but why highlight such topics as if our track record is great
my response would have been exactly the same had an indian poster opened a similar thread…reminding him all the bul**** that muslims had to go through recently when they were left in open cold to die…and half a dozen other examples

If this report is true, despicable conduct by the authorities.
I did notice Hindu extremists were supposed to be behind this. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, out with the Right wing. Everywhere. Progressives and liberals, wake up. There ain't no such thing as Moderate. Moderate is na ghar ka na ghat ka.
Liberal ain't a dirty word. Embrace it. Stand up for the minority. Wherever you are.

Thank you for posting this link. Per the article, there were clashes between local students and Kashmiri students with former the aggressors. To me there is NO ROOM FOR VIOLENCE. So the aggressors were wrong. And should be SUSPENDED indefinitely.
The Kashmiris cheering for Pak is fine. After the game, they shouted Pakistan Zindabad. Considering the emotion involved in this game, it was poor juddgment on their part. I am not a legal scholar. But bad things are bound to happen if such slogans are shouted in a crowd of Indian students after an emotional game where some disputes occurred between the sections.
Would I have cared? Absolutely not. It is game, damn it. Just a game. But folks make it about patriotism.
The University authorities were WRONG TO ask for identities of students who shouted Pakistan zindabad. They were wrong to call that bad conduct punishable by indefinite suspension.
The Kashmiris were right in Not giving up identities.
Last para says kashmiris were glad authorities provided safe passage.
Let us hope common sense prevails. And the students reinstated. And the aggressors punished.

One of my friends is from Indian Kashmir. He was once student there and presently also has friends in that university. He said that Kashmiris are not that sensitive towards Pakistan but towards Islam, for them the symbol of chand sitara on Pakistani flag should be respected. He said that it all started after Umar gul’s wicket, when some of the hindu students started to burn the flag. (He is also witness of some hindu extremists peeing on Pakistani flag in the past)
