You were told wrong....
Don't know why you think that somehow not shaving for a month makes one person more muslim than the other
Beard is fard bhaijaan and that's what Prophet(PBUH) advised his sahabas in Al-Sunnah. He advised them to keep beard as he did. The sahabas turned out to be the first muslims and every muslim from that point onwards is advised to keep beard- you are allowed to only shave moustache, which is okay. Ask any religious scholars of Islam in Pakistan and they will tell you the same. I see your avatar and you don't have beard too.. am I right?
So muslim beard is equivalent to "kirpan" and "trishol" according to hindus....lol[/quoute]
Secular India is the biggest joke! Beard among muslims is a fard and every muslim should keep it, no exception- A muslim looks kafir without a beard, we were told growing up. Indian muslims are biggest non-practicing muslims. Islam is the most peaceful and tolerant religion but things like no beard should not be tolerated at all and one must be punished for violating it.
Whether beard is mandatory for Muslims or not is for them to decide.
However, expecting everyone else to bend over backwards to accommodate your religious beliefs is carrying things a bit too far. That is the point being debated here.
Re: Indian Supreme Court says no beard in school, doesn't want 'Talibanisation'
^I will say in summary the school (seems more like a boot camp)had an unnecessarily rigid and discriminatory rule against personal choice and the judge is a moron making up a hilarious connection between two totally unrelated issues.
Re: Indian Supreme Court says no beard in school, doesn't want 'Talibanisation'
Personal choice comes at a price many times. I can make a choice to carry a gun at all times, but the flip side is that I will not be allowed to board an airplane. If It still decide to carry a gun, I am making a choice to not board an airplane.
As I said in my OP, this is a step in the right direction. Religious fundamentalism of any kind should neither be allowed nor tolerated. Religion is a personal thing, to be practiced in private and not something to be flaunted or made a big "tamasha" of.

Enough said. The thread can be closed now :p
Your example and position is completely wrong and opposite to the matter at hand. The man was correct to protest and its good that your thread brought a ridiculous rule and a joker judge into light.:)
Absolutely agreed though, the thread can be closed if mods feel like it.
Re: Indian Supreme Court says no beard in school, doesn't want 'Talibanisation'
If the kid had an issue with the rule, he should not have joined the school. He should have joined a more accommodating school. He was just publicity hungry. It is as simple and plain as that.
I think the thread needs to be closed now for all that matters...
