Gangu comes in through the back door at the expense of Mohd Kaif.
I hope he fails miserably in Pak.

Ganguly gets his last chance, though giving somebody life line for Pakistan tour doesn't make sense.

It was a toss off between Gangs and Kaif, and by failing in last test agains SL Kaify didn't do good to himself.........
Rest of team is well balanced and well selected..

Frankly if such blatant politics can go on in a game that is always under media spotlight in India, I shudder to think about the level of politics and favoritism that must go on in other sports (Hockey for example).

Its a good team with people performing in domestic cricket are rewarded well Wasim, Zaheer and Parthiv.

The annual central contracts for Indian cricketers were announced today, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India announcing a three-tier structure for 15 players.
The elite and the excluded
As expected Irfan Pathan was the only addition to the premier Group A category while Zaheer Khan, selected for the Pakistan tour, was demoted from Group B to Group C. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was given a central contract and was slotted in Group B while Parthiv Patel’s contract was not renewed. Ashish Nehra and Lakshmipathy Balaji, the former contracted players, were also ignored while Murali Kartik, who was ignored for the Pakistan tour, was retained in Group C. Gautam Gambhir was included in Group C, replacing Aakash Chopra from last year’s contract.

Watching the usefullness of Flintoff, Plunkett and Collingwood, India have included their own premier allrounder in Ganguly.

What about Nehra? I thought that was one guy who could restrict the Pak batting to some extant. Well good news for Pak he is not touring.

The team is about players who have maximum value to team. That way Nehra loses out on batting, since R.P.Singh, Zaheer, Pathan and Agarkar all are as good as bowlers and Nehra...
It was toss off between Ganguly and Kaify. All others seem to be a good pick..

They have taken quarter of the spices from this Desi series. No Kaif-No thrill :(
The presence of Kaif, Yuvraj, Malik and Afridi during fielding is always fun. They are great fielders from Sub-continent's standards and Kaif stands above all.

i hope this is an exciting series, the politics in indan cricket are still very much vibrant, i think the PCB is doing well to shun such things from pak cricket, n e ways i hope gangu scores a bt, to give the indians more headaches

^ Yeah true. If Gangu doesnt score that will be THE end for him. The BCCI will have their work cut out for them.
However if he puts some score on the board that will garner him another lifeline. And more headaches for the selectors and discussions in parliament. :D
India are banking on their allrounders but that could be something we should be getting used to courtesy Greg Chappell.
Balaji Kaif and Nehra will be missed. They were the ones who troubled pak team in india last tour. Balaji and Nehra especially.

This is one dysfunctional outfit.
Coach Chappel does not like Gangu and vice-versa.
Harbhajan does not like Coach Chappel and loves Gangu.
Manager Dungarpur hates Gangu and sees him as Dalmiya's protege.
Manager Dungarpur hates Harbhajan, has called him an idiot before and also commented "Once a chucker, always a chucker" about him.
With reference to Chappel's email about some player equations, it will be no surprise if some people are not in talking terms with others during the tour.
...which brings us to Kaif - he has been badly handled all along...and now dropped to accommodate Gangu.
I think they should start burning Kiran More's effiggies in Allahabad...if Kaif has to be re-instated.
Its a comic situation really.

Someone, grow up... Kaif has average of 21 is tests. Please don't push for him so much. He will be back for onedays, that's where he belongs.
