Why the hell they should be banne! I dont see any reason.
However people have to change their hippocratic behaviour. For example, on one side they hate India or portray to hate india and its culture.. on the other side , just eager to know which new movie is getting released, what bollywood actors are doing.. and worst is that, their own actors/singers are desperate to work there.
So people gotta choose one of two. Govt has nothing to do in this matter.
I say it should be banned...Not because its unislamic or any religious reasons but because it goes against the two nation theory outlined by our founder. Muslims and Hindus are different and we as muslims should not get joy out of watching their hindu culture. Ethnically and culturally we are different from them and thus I wish we moved away from watching their way of life.
I say government should infuse funds to our own creative department and we should make movies or dramas from our own baluch, pukhtun, sindhi, and punjabi culture rather than flocking to the cinemas to see which new movies the fake khans of bollywood are featuring in.
Most bollywood productions are so poor and shallow content wise that at least in theory it should not be hard for Pakistani film makers to create their own loyal audience based on content-heavy and strong on performances films like Khuda Ke Liye (note -- that only ONE film has managed to shove the Indian competetion aside so far).
Ideally, Pakistani cinema should beat out bollywood on merit and not some government ban, by getting the audiences back who for years have patronized and indeed preferred Pakistani cinema even when Indian films used to run side by side, as in the 50s and 60s. But they're not producing anything and the level of gutter they're churning out I dont know if it would be a good idea to stop the screening of Indian films. I mean to say that Indian films be stopped to make way for the Jeera-Gujjars and Munda-Badmaash-Da would be idiotic. The scenario would change if the people who we've been waiting for decades now actually come out with decent films, and that the audience actually turns up to watch those films. So my final verdict is: Ideally, the audience should kick out the shoddy bollywood productions by spending their rupees on better domestic productions (if they happen), but since that is a utopian scenario, some kind of "blockade" on Indian cinema may be feasible provided Pakistani cinema starts coming up with at least several quality productions consistently, every year.
Rather every single Pakistani needs to give birth to slightest‘self respect’ to be able to get a self imposed ban to watch any bollsh!t. I sometimes wonder what kind of a nation can happily accept all kinds of thappar, laatein, ghoonsay, jootay, insult, humiliation of all sorts, all kinds by another nation diseased nation plagued with obsession of hurting the other one but still not feel a thing to boycott their stuff.
Ideally, I want a siatuation where india is desperate to gather Pakistani audience for their bollysh!t cr@p but they wont find any simple because Pakistanis become so dignified & self respecting which enables them to see how their hypocrite neighbour has been engaged in burning their homeland in infinite ways but at the same time hypocritically singing all the ‘love songs’ , doing ‘aman ki sh!t’. And then that enables them to put a self imposed ban to boycott anything indian exactly the way indians have on anything Pakistani.
The thing is that for the above to become a reality, a nation has to have basic self respect which majority of Pakistani nation does not because they are too busy bollysh!tting. So, I can only pray that there comes a day when I see Pakistani nation becoming much more dignified that Pakistani government would not have to ban / unban anything to teach this stupid, naiive nation what is not good / good for them but they are mature enough to understand it themselves.
I know there is a portion of sane, normal Pakistanis because they stay away from dysfunctional bollysh!t products. I can only hope & pray to see it growing in the future. InshaAllah. If nothing else, knowing that this sh!t comes from a land which has purposely has burned Pakistan in a very organized fashion. But I wonder if that would really happen given seen the ‘stars’ of this nation seek ‘autographs’ ( http://www.paklinks.com/gs/7453857-post26.html ) of the very same land of tyrants.
I salute your courage to come out with the exact thoughts many of us were thinking when this thread came along. Self-respect amongst Pakistani’s is lacking big time - wouldn’t it be wonderful if Pakistani’s voluntarily boycotted Bolly films??
The issue here is lack of taste, not lack of self respect. Most people who would watch bollywood films would be similarly happy to watch those pathetic stage shows or local entertainment of similar quality, like say, a nargis video.
^ I think its a mixture of both, a Bolly fan is most likely to distance themselves from a Nargis fan preferring 'sophisticated' entertainment despite the fact that most Bolly films are equally vulgar except that they disguise it all with big budgets and big names.
No Indian movies should not be banned coz there are not too many quality movies are produced in Pakistan nowadays so if you'll also ban the bollywood movies then there would be no other way to entertain yourself in cinema. then nobody will go to cinemas they'll still watch those movies at their homes.. so thats not gonna help to promote Pakistani movies.. if you want people to watch paki movies then you should introduce something new other than those "GUJJARS" nobody wanna see them...
Indian films should be banned and pakistani television channels should get over their obssession for everything indian. Our film financiers should invest money in pakistani films instead of spending money on buying indian films which propagandize against pakistan and spread vulgarity.I would rather watch hollywood films than cheap indian mush. indians are promoting their crap culture through their insane films and I object to that. I would not want pakistanis idolizing indians. Choke their propaganda machine aka indian film industry.
^^ I love what you said. But you see, until there is a sense of self dignity & basic form of self respect amongst Pakistani nation, no matter if you 'ban' any filth, people would always find a way to access it. So............. it is our people who are lost in bollysh!t who need to drive this menace out of their minds, hearts & brains & eventually out of pakistan.
Surely this is very much possible if lollywood itself had developed & matured gradually & naturally with time but the anti pakistan mafia turned the natural course of things in its' favor by destroying yet another major industry of Pakistan aka lollywood.
I am a paki by descent but have lived all over this beautiful planet of ours... i find it sad that 2 countries whose culture is essentially the same should hate each others so much...
politicians/vested interests/the powers that be/our own mental laziness fuels and help create the illusion of separation and the illusion of choice and we think we exercise our right and our free will when we chose one over the other...be it bollywood or lollywood or hollywood or tollywood ( any others out there?)
some films are really good and uplifting (regardless of who makes them) and some are not..but to rubbish all indian media as bad is the height of ignorance..india is a huge country , and has produced some great minds, and some great work, if anything we should copy their relatively better work ethic ..do we see india obsessing over our films, or bothering about what we think or what we do?
So we are muslims, and as muslims should we not listen to our own conscience and develop our moral compass...how long can we blame india or any other country for our own problems, is our corruption india's fault or our own leaders' greed...if we are corrupted its because we are corruptible...time we stopped the nitpicking and the blame game and get out of denial
we like to think we are better than our neighbor, simply bec "we are muslims" but the world does not seem to care about muslims these days, i am no india admirer, but perception is reality and this is the unfortunate realty... we need to stop worrying about others, and work on fixing ourselves

We are indeed better than any one else... we are the best!
