Indian Justice

The recent judgements suggest that indian justice is tilted heavily on punishment and there is not much room for pardon. The punishment meted out to Sanjay Dutt is extremely disappointing. Our system of justice is so inflexible that all the good noble work of his parents have no bearing on the judgement.

Also astonishing fact is that those involved in Bombay riots and mosque demolition which triggered Bombay terror attack would go unpunished. And those involved in massacre of sikhs in 1984 would never be punished. And those who participated in Gujrat riots would also be left out for the lack of evidence.

Also those religious fanatics and leaders who poison our society and divide people in the name of religion and who are the root cause of all the violence would be tolerated is the final message.

Re: Indian Justice

I dont think that any good work done by his parents should affect the judgement given for him. i should matter if they are on the spot but why should the child benefit from it.
I like sanju baba a lot... but at the same time i want him to face the concequences for whatever he did.

Re: Indian Justice

kewn bhai? In which world do you see justice system being sypathetic towards someone whose parents were good. Even if Sanjay had done good deeds in past still he should be punished for any crime committed, if court of law says it was a crime and he is proven to be guilty party then he should be punished.

NOTE: I don't know details of his crimes/case.

Re: Indian Justice

wouldn't the Indian system be contributing to the corruption if they let him go just because he's a big movie star who had star parents and he has the big money? He was buddies with the terrorists that were responsible for the mumbai bombings and he even helped them by keeping their illegal weapons in his house.

If just a normal person had done something like this we wouldn't support him would we? He would also be a terrorist too responsible for killing hundreds of people. We really should not associate him with the characters he's playing or has played in the past.

I don't know much about what actions are being taken for the other riots that had happened in India so I really can't comment on that.

Re: Indian Justice

When parents do hard work and earn good money then their children always benefit by having more comfortable life even though they have not earned that money. Similarly when parents do very good noble social work then some consideration should be given to their offspring while awarding punishment.

Six years of rigorous punishment for possessing illegal weapon seems too harsh given the fact that sanjay dutt has mentally suffered for fourteen years. Just compare this with those religious fanatic leaders who publicly spit venom everyday and poison the whole environment and go unpunished. It is these people who breed terrorist.

Remember the case of Bal Thakrey whose case was dismissed within hours. And how Adwani who was facing charges assumed home minister position and how his case too dissipated.

A matured and highly civilized justice system focuses and encourages on reforming people. Another extreme is the jungle law justice which beleives only in revenge punishment.

I don't say Indian justice is based on jungle law but it is very inflexible.

Re: Indian Justice

Would that mean children of Gandhi (if any??) can go around and form a gang? Just curious. Its the same mentality which has promoted family control on politics, children of good old politicians are cashing that brand irrespective of how good/bad they are (esp in Pakistan.... look at Ejazul Haq, Benazir Bhutto etc.).... People stop looking at what YOUR or someone's parents did, look at what YOU are doing and pay for it.

Re: Indian Justice

I agree with your point. I don't say that Sanjay shouldn't be punished but only that some consideration and some concession should have been given because his parents did great work to promote religious harmony in the country. Sunil Dutt also raised lot of money for cancer hospital and did lot of social work. His offspring shouldn't have been treated like a normal criminal. I feel so sad today.

Re: Indian Justice

the crime has done by a family member and not a whole family, :)

Re: Indian Justice

Although I do have sympathy for Sanjay but I am proud of Indian justice system today.
I wish they could punish some of these Politicians too.

Re: Indian Justice

along with sanjay, could they put narendra modi's psycho butt in jail too? I hope there will be a day when these corrupt wackjob politicians along with the fanatics get what's coming to them.

Re: Indian Justice

thakray, advani, modi they all are still scot free because they are influntial and powerful people. its a shame but its a fact that they managed to bend the law.
But it doesnt mean that everyone should be able to do it. Salman got in trouble, ex prime minister got in trouble, chandra swami got in touble, and now sanju is in trouble from law...
examples like this keep the faith of common people in law. even though it happens once in a while.
just like u cannot punish a person for crime done by his family member, u cant show any kind of linency towards any person if his family is nice.
I think you are getting emotional here in your judgement... i like sanju too, i wish that he didnt do wrong things in his life.... he is one of my most fav but law is law.

Re: Indian Justice

sanjay dutt is like the al pacino of indian movies.
can he get early release or is he gone for 6 years?

Re: Indian Justice

^ I think it's more like 4 years now since he already spent some time in jail.

Re: Indian Justice

but in india they dont have like an early release based on good behavior or parole?

Re: Indian Justice

^ ^ Yes they do. for good conduct you get some sort of linency.

Re: Indian Justice

if you have good influence you can escape on parole, i know many in my town who got life are out on parole :)

Re: Indian Justice

Re: Indian Justice

are yaar, i am not hurt that sanjhu baba is gone to jail, happy little bit that indian justice system has done something not like make cases pending for years and years

well, i haven't done indepth analysis that why sanjhu jailed for 6 long years, is it only coz of keeping illegal arms in home or some outher cases aslo link with it.

This decision must have shocked people living in India
