ISLAMABAD: A spokesman for Pakistan’s army said authorities have forced an Indian military helicopter to land and have taken its four-member crew into custody for violating Pakistani airspace.

The helicopter intruded into Pakistani territory in Olding sector in northern Skardu region around 1:00 p.m (0800 GMT).
According to initial details, it was stated that the helicopter conducted an emergency landing due to bad weather.
Later, however, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said that the helicopter was forced to land near Skardu, a city in northeastern Pakistan fairly close to the border with India-administered Kashmir.
“The helicopter had come deep into our airspace. It was forced to land. Four Indian army officers have been taken into safe custody. They are safe,” military spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas told Reuters.
He did not say what Pakistan planned to do with them.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

Yeah weather is that bad that all their navigation equipment doesn’t work. We use old Russian MI8s from the 1970s and hell we never cross into Iran for some reason due to the bad weather.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

snow whiteout and bad weather at the drass and kargil sector in himalayan ranges does not happen in the baluchistan -sistan border area of pako iran border

Cz We Have Big Hearts Thats Why ......Even We Were The One Who Helped The Ppl From Somali Pirates

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

certainly a big heart shown by pakistani military establishment and government . responsible establishments .

i dont know much detail about the circumstances of 1999 shooting of naval servillance plane in the aftermath of kargil war , but it was a plane which was owned and used by pakistan navy . but in the 1965 a civilian aircraft carrying chief minister of gujrat balwant rai mehta his family was shot down by pakistan air force even after pakistani pilots repeated messages that small aircraft to be shot is civilian , pakistani airforce bosses ordered knowingly to shoot it down. but the pilot who shot down the ill fated plane showed the real big heart and conveyed his condolences to the daughter of the pilot of shot down plane .
[Pakistani pilot reaches out to daughter of Indian man he shot down …

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

Let me explain you what the protocol is:

If an enemy airplane strays inside a country, then the strayed enemy airplane has to land in the country. Enemy plane cannot simply escape back...

In case of Pakistani plane, First of all, it was not an unarmed recon plane...Those kind of recon plane have capabilities to fire missiles.......Secondly....Pakistani crew was asked to land in Indian territory by Indian fighter planes.....

Pakistani crew did not respond and turned back....it was only then it was fired upon.

If Indian crew had responded the same way, they would have been fired upon in similar way.

its not maturity...its called following the protocol.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

nor India/afghan/china too.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

you bringing old story.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

Its very easy to create a false 'engagement story' and shot down the plane ...isnt it?

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

Practice what you preach, please. Why you had to quote a old story to tell someone to forget the bad memories , they why are you jogging bad memories by quoting more than 50 years old story ?

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

Good job at least no human life was lost. But my question is, Pakistan realized after Indian helicopter entered 20km inside Pakistan from IOK?

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

Must be so difficut for people like you to come up with a 'true engagement story'.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

indian air force planes also came in recently...i think last year may be.....deep into pakistani territory......and then returned.......

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace

I suppose you were sitting in one of the Indian planes, or is it the Indian press version which you are narrating parrot fashion here.

Re: Indian chopper forced to land after violating Pakistani airspace
