Re: indian bangle? hanging?

this is typically done by indians. i personally think the dangling bangles would irritate me after a while lol

Re: indian bangle? hanging?

Can't remember what it's called but I dnt like this Indian tradition :/
there are many beautiful Pakistani rituals we should stick too.

Re: indian bangle? hanging?

I've seen a few Pakistani weddings where this is gifted by the friends of the bride and it's then removed by the groom when she goes to his home after the rukhsati. But I don't think Indian bride's use it for that purpose.

Re: indian bangle? hanging?

That's a kalire, it's a punjabi tradition. You see it on a lot of Sikh brides too. I think it's nice, but I'd rather wear something like that on the mehndi than the wedding day

Re: indian bangle? hanging?

It's an indian tradition, kalire are given to the bride from her uncle, whereas in pakistani wedding's the bride's friends put gaane on her arms.

Re: indian bangle? hanging?

Traditionally it was given to the bride but was made out of dates, dried fruit and other such things. As brides had to travel far In the olden days she would snack on the Kelari throughout her journey. Nowadays they are Glammed up but it's a nice tradition. My sister said she would make me one out of ferraro rocher to give to me on my rukhsati lol!
