India: Woman flogged for 'prostitution'

BALASORE ( state of Orissa in eastern India): **Residents of a village near Soro in Balasore district dragged a woman by her hair, tied her to a tree at a market place and then proceeded to publicly flog her after accusing her of prostitution. **

Not content with the punishment, the villagers even shot the barbaric act with a video camera on Wednesday.

Police on Thursday arrested three persons on charges of abusing and beating the 25-year-old dalit publicly at Bagudi. Police have identified three accused and were produced in court.

Woman flogged for ‘prostitution’ - India - The Times of India

i think flogging has become contagious. Or indian ppl have started practicing shariah wid some sort of Improvisation.

And … this is the difference …

Police on Thursday arrested three persons on charges of abusing and beating the 25-year-old dalit publicly at Bagudi. Police have identified three accused and were produced in court.

People responsible for this act were arrested before the news hit the stands … unlike you know where … the supreme court appointed commision said it was a lie

Re: India: Woman flogged for ‘prostitution’

Actually it was interesting to read that there are Hindus who are dreaming of their own version of “Sharia” which includes public corporal punishment (they are actively destroying mosques and other rival Hindu groups).

The Hindu : Front Page : Behind Sanatan Sanstha’s spiritual veil, a militarist face

"Akhand Bharat cadre had planned to do just that. In an audio-tape recovered by the Maharashtra police investigators, alleged Akhand Bharat operatives Prasad Shrikant Purohit, R.P. Singh and Dayanand Pandey discussed plans for displacing the Indian government, authoring an alternative constitution, setting up of a government in exile in Israel, and instituting a criminal procedure code which would include public corporal punishment."

Unlike some other countries in the region .... people in India realize the danger of nurturing such groups. They have seen how much damage can be done by people who claim the right to rule in the name of religion.

These groups will be neutralized and won't pose a danger to India or anyone in the region. The real danger is from groups that still get support from people and offical "elements" in the establishment in some other countries in the region !!!!!!

Will be, shall be, should be, could be...

This is what we are hearing for the last 60+ years. Come back and tell us about it when these terrorist groups are actually destroyed.

As the things stand now, these groups are not only there but are increasing in number with each passing month and year.... and their members are increasingly becoming parliamentarians and chief ministers.

India's record on handling terror groups has been very good compared to most of the countries in the region. The reason for that is simple ... such groups are not nurtured.

That is the reason .... open any news media and they are talking about the terrror groups based in ...........

Now dont go around blaming the media ... even people in Pakistan are now saying (90% !!!!) that religious parties are responsible for the situation .... time to smell the coffee :D

^^ Lets forget about Pakistan for a while. We know we have an image problem. For media, we are the bad guys, 24/7.

Lets talk about the reality on ground... about media-darling india... Answer this:

Aren't there indigenous terrorist groups in india?
Aren't they exploding bombs to kill rival Hindus? Muslims? Christians?
Don't they want to impose their version of "Sharia"?
This has been happening for the last 60+ years. So why india could not stop this in 60 years and why they keep increasing in power and stature?

So if these groups do exist, why don't you admit and start investigating that may be some huge terrorist acts in india were actually planted by these to destroy relationships between Pak and india?

.... and the reason for this image problem is .... you dont have to run away from this ....

So which group do you want India to investigate ... let us talk about this too ... if you are refering to Sanathan Sanstahn .... this is a reacent group and investigation are on ... people who are connected with terror are arrested and investigated. Even serving army officer was arrested ....

Don't know which group you are refering to that has existed for last 60 years !!!! Every country has "nut cases" ..... who should be booked and locked up and that is what is done in India .... the same needs to be done in Pakistan .... instead groups are nurtured.

C'mon yaar.

Aren't these fanatic Hinduist terrorists existing since creation of India and Pakistan?

Even Mohandas Karamchand was assassinated by one.

Fanatics .... have existed and they have been dealt with accordingly. Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated and the killer was hanged and the organisation responsible for the act was banned ........ full stop.

Even today ... Pakistan government is not investigating the murder of Benazir Bhuttoo .... why ?

Re: India: Woman flogged for 'prostitution'

*"Pakistan: Man beaten for being Christian."
*

Now now why is every body spreading lie bout the great paradise. shame shame... Even big bad google lie... when you google on "paraded naked" for example it spits out lie after lie. I'd say shutup you all. thankoo much much..

As much as this is deplorable, there is nothing new to that. We are aware of these stupid fanatics in our country (BTW. 90% Pakistanis hate those, according to latest surveys). We hear/see these kind of news 24/7 on media. We are bad guys....

But what we don't hear much in the media is what is going on in the supposedly biggest democracy and a very civilized country like india? Wanted to have a little focus on that.

BTW, you in Germany? Hope you are living far enough from Postdam and other eastern towns. Be careful.

Did you realize that the articles you are posting are from Indian sources? So much about your "But what we don't hear much in the media" argument. I'm pretty sure Indians know what is going on in their country.

Have been to Potsdam quite a few times. Only wannabe Hunk FOB guys who like to flirt with "Goris" and expect from others to not even look at their women can manage to get a beating from such a place.

"FOB guy: Hello, you want buy rose for your girlfriend?
Confused guy: Uhm...NO, thanks.
FOB guy: OK
FOB guy: Your girl friend is pretty, I give her rose for free.
FOB guy: A rose for a rose. winks at the girl"

yeah yeah yeah...

Re: India: Woman flogged for 'prostitution'

at least in india women is flogged for prostitution .. and the culprits are caught immediately.. in pakistan if a women is caught talking with a non-relative male.. she is flogged... if she is raped then she got a show witnesses to the rape...haha... solve ur problems first..

When was the last time you read in "Der Spiegel" about Hindus being involved in terrorist activities? And now compare to how often you read about Muslims/Pakistnis.

Here is a quiz for you: When is it called "Ehrenmord" and when is it called "Familiendrama"?

Get the point?

The Ethopian Ermyas M. would strongly disagree with that. :)

... Or paraded naked for belonging to lower caste.
... Or tied with trees and almost killed for being "Witch"
... Or is married to a dog to get rid of the curse on the family.

Give me a break man!

Admit that these social problems do exist in our societies and not only Pakistan but also india is struggling to cope with that!

haha.. no one said it doesnt happen.. but in india... few incidents happen and it gets reported in indian media itself unlike in pakistan... where some other media sources have to pick it up ... and provide for the social upliftment of pakistani society.. pathetic.....

Few incidents???

Oh ok, you mean every hour :rotfl: .

at least it is not as common as those incidents in paksitan… and maybe per capita wise pakistan might be ahead of india (wow)
