I just check out the scoreboard :eek: they made Dravid open the innings in the test match :smack2: there is one thing called experimenting and other is called stupidity!!! why whack away the balance :mad:

^Does it matter. Gambhir OUT 3rd ball. Dravid would have been IN anyways.

btw, India playing with 9 players this time (not counting 2 political nominees GANGU and AGARKAR).

I am honest - I want India to LOSE this match.

my motto may the best team win, but you cannot destory your Best batsman, yes he comes one down, and to be honest there is a big difference 1 down and opener.

but still there is a limit to every thing and therefore, there is a limit to “experimentation” too…chappel has some serious problem…and now he is disturbing the balance of the test team…I simply salute dravid ( my all time favorite player) who is always willing to put up with the shear stupidity of the team management…but for how long…..

THis is called leading from front. He saw Sehwag is unfit and realised there is no better person to do this job and took the challenge. After all there is difference of only one ball between opener and no. 2 batsman.

I was wondering an Indian wicket has fallen and no one showed up in this thread yet to inform yes. It was long 3 minutes of wait for me.

Why didn't laxman open, aftrerall there is only a difference of 2 balls between opener and one down. :p

But how many times have you see no 4 coming in first over and no 3 coming in first over. Point is that , No 3 is supposed to be as competent as opener when it comes to facing new ball. aap ek dam sathiya gayen hain Ehsan bhai..

Also, Laxman have had a pretty bad record as an opener and probably wouldnot have like opening. And really choice was between Dravid and Laxman. I dont think there was anyone else appropriate for TEST opener.

Captain bhai , you just happened to post at wrong time. My comment was directed at certain individual. bas aap firing line pe aa gaye. You just stole opportunity from him . He is infamous for showing up when India does bad and hide in his hole when india is doing good.

It is not about you Ehsan bhai. But there are many who just find it easy to criticize anything done by Indian.
But seriously, we can have a debate what was better option since Sehwag is not playing..

Gangly : out of form .struggling to get back into team. You dont wana send him as opener. He never opened in longer version of game even in first class matches.
Laxman : has been big failure as Opener.
Yuvraj : Making a comeback in team. Has been big failure as opener.
Dhoni and Irfan : not a test class opener material.

Seriously ,It was choice between Dravid and Sachin. Sachin has been going through some rough phase. So, It was commendable that Dravid took pressure on himself and went ahead to play as opener and let Sachin play at a place where he is comfortable and get back in form. Also I think ,Dravid has best technique to be an opener.
