It is easy to dismiss Younis Khan as a one-day batsman on the basis of the number of his hundreds but if you look at his SR, it is comparable to other Pak batsmen. Miandad’s SR is low because he almost always batted in a crisis situation (esp. during the latter part of his career) with Pakistan 2 or 3 down for not many and had to graft for a while before playing a few shots. Also he played a lot of 60-over games early on in his career. I never said Younis was world-class or better than Yousuf but when you have you no other better options you have to stick with him for the time-being. His overall figures are decent rather than brilliant. Steve Waugh similarly had a batting average of 32.90, a healthy SR of 75.91 but only 3 hundreds in 325 ODIs though he batted at 5 or 6 for most of his career. West Indian Richie Richardson is another one whose figures don’t quite do justice to his immense talent.
