Delhi Airport ke paas ek bahot baRaa Shiv kaa statue hai…bahot se pilots ne use Khatra qaraar diyaa hai kiuN k bilkul flight path par edge of the runway se milaa huaa hai…ab Shiv kaa mo’aamila hai koii kuchh bol nahiiN saktaa.

This is the old practice in sub-continent. After all, Mughals could not have passed their time in India, if they were not busy in building Taj Mahal, Hiran Minar, etc
I also read that there were some statue of Gandhi ji in front of Sindh High Court building, Karachi and just after 1947, the immigrants pulled these statue from ground and then used the same to made utensils for their food business.
Lenin’s statues (Russian comrade, who called religion an opium and whose statues were spread in every nook and corner of Russia) were melt to make holy cross for churches which started growing like mushrooms after Soviet fall.

The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the USA from France in mid 1800s (I think).

USA is a much richer country with much higher GDP...they can do that. monuments in the USA are major tourist attractions and they make a lot of money. Russians Czars were no better than the Kings. India is a poor country of 1.2 billion people and they must not waste money in this fashion.

The Statue of Liberty which is basically a robed Roman Goddess of Liberatas (sp) - a some kind of equivalent to French Merinne I suppose, was basically a gesture to symbolise French support for American Independence which they thought personified the ideals of the French Revolution. Yeah, the French loved advertising their revolution and were very keen to spread the ideology.

They had plenty of ups and downs in History. After the Second World War, France was perhaps the only major Western European country that opposed American inference in European affairs. They hated how Britain and American was so keen to re-build Germany. They openly resisted joining NATO at its creation saying it's too dominated by Britain and America.
France always had and will always have a very European character and mindset. I wouldn't call USA and France as best allies, French never really cared for the English speaking countries, lol. They've always been more keen to achieve European supermacy or supermacy within Europe.
NASA is spying on every living and breathing object, I wouldn't be surprised if French officals are also their victims. I personally haven't came across that news.
