ok lets see ...what I have said so far:
1) these are sad news .. huge societal issue!
2) but lets not make it an india bashing session as it wont serve any objective purpose ...coz whole subcontinent has rape problem including pakistan
3) I then categorically said that if an indian poster had made similar comments or posted similar thread in the same fashion, my reaction would be exact same .
4) I then confronted couple of hypotheses.... which I think I am allowed to...... first, i believe that bollywoodization does not necessarily "sexualise" our society to the extent it is causing rapes.... my rationale is that we dont teach our kids from a very young age how to respect women .... we in subcontinent discriminate women at every stage in our social spectrum especially in rural areas....so Bollywood or no Bollywood, subcontinental societies are primarily male dominated and think of women as sexual pleasure tools and lesser creature...unless that social behavior is changed, dont expect rape rate to go down even if you completely ban bollywood
6) i then gave example of Scandinavian countries where media is far more sexual but less rapes ...also gave an example of pakistan, where bollywood has less influence than india (as i see it ) but rape is a big problem
6) I disagreed with another observation that the democratic system has anything to do with this mess....and asked if india would have done better on the rape front if it had military rule....did not get any answer so far
these are my opinions and observations .... i did not start any name calling or personal attacks .... other folks attacked me.. I was just responding in a light manner .... and not sure what do you mean by " i got cornered'..... there is no war going on here....

First of all, lets get "we" out of equation, which shows as if you belong to the "us". You are not, no matter how much you try to pretend.
Secondly, I did not want to be the part of this thread since I know there are a whole lot of issues (and not necessarily like this one) everywhere including Pakistan...until I saw you being stubborn and adamant on wrongfully defending and finding excuse of crime(s) which occurred in India when you were very active in KSA issue in another thread.
The thread is by someone who posted a news from India.
You said it is India bashing. Fine, this may or may not be.
But you denied that low class Bollywood movies do and can contribute to sexual crimes and what people see is what they absorb.
Comparing this to Scandinavian countries based on lacking the Bollywood is just plain and simple ludicrous since it shows you have absolutely no idea that Sweden has a rise in rape too.

Now,
No one says it is just Bollywood. It is what is shown in movies, magazines, ads etc...., , for subcontinent unfortunately, one bad source is Bollywood.
For others it is what they see in 'their' movies including Bollywood.
You can deny all yo want, but reality is that treating women as sex objects and showing people doing hanky panky does affect people's minds.
Long gone the days when Bollywood had some decency and admiration for social values in its famous movies.
And do not even try to blame people who watch it without blaming the movie makers who have just one thing in their minds which is how to make money on promoting smut and make women a sex object.
And then to your democracy versus military rule argument:
Let's see.
India boasts for not having military rule, but that did not help India by any other means, a place at least socially better for its citizens either.
I have already shown before there is not even a law in India passed to protect minors abuse. No answer to that.

Lastly, if you insist, I can give you unprecedented evidences how messed up the social structure is in your 'favorite place' India.
But this is not a contest of who has highest rate of rape and other horrible crimes, since even one crime from any standard is to be condemned.
