Does that mean the 700,000 Indian troops in Indian occupied Kashmir are getting to leave? :)

Our leader do need to talk! Good News! The question is talk about what? India and Pakistan leaving Kashmir and holding a plebiscite?

hahaha...maybe vajpot wants to have his 'decisive battle' with mushhy one on one.

Good news. Their is still some sense left in Indians.

As I was reading this, I was again reminded of the repeated attempts by both Pakistan and India to establish some kind of working relationship. This see-saw has been going on for as long as I have seen it (from early Zia days to Benazir to Nawaz Sharif to Musharraf). Every time, we make tiny little bit of progress (?) something happens to bring it all crashing down. Either its the conflict in Kargil or Kashmiri fighters opening fire in Indian Parliament or something else.

Makes me wonder, if there ever will be a time, when India and Pakistan can learn to co-exist in some kinda working relationship? Yes, hypothetically we can, but practically I don’t think it will happen in our life-times. The issue of Kashmir is so deep-rooted in the psyche of both nations, that it is almost insolvable.

I don't want to see India and Pakistan "talking." I want to see Ind-Pak SETTLING things like Kashmir, Indus Waters treaty..complete the issues remaining from partition. After that may India and Pakistan both prosper in SEPARATION from each other.

We have to stop the Mujahideen before that can happen.

is this the 9834th peace attempt by the both gov’t combined? :hehe:

The world environment is changing every day and all Pakistanis think of is Kashmir Kashmir and India is evil. That is the propaganda that is spread back home with the patriotic military songs and what not. Migrating from Pakistan and coming to a western country, then one realizes a more moderate perspective and not just mere propaganda. We have United States which is a bigger threat to Pakistan than India ever is. This was a british conspiracy from the start to have India and Pakistan fighting forever and wasting their resources by leaving a disputed land. Can't Pakistan establish trade with India and still keep Kashmir as a concern with them like many other countries do. Accept the reality we need India more then India needs us just because of its size and enormous trading potential. When United States comes to our doorstep just like in Iraq, won't it be better to have India on our side rather than with the US. Otherwise we will really be in trouble! India will never give up Kashmir because that would be suicide for India as it would give other separatist movements in India an upper hand. Any sane country would do that. Look how tense turkey is with Kurds gaining ground in Iraq. Pakistan should take this move by indian PM as an opportunity and establish some kind of working relationship with India.

Its good to see that Indian leaders have come to their senses...although I belive that once again Advani will toss a monkey wrench into the dialouge and not allow for a compromise.... As for the future of Kashmir it is not upto Pakistan nor India to decide there future...Kashmiris must decide without any compulsion...
But better relations with India wold be a plus....as far as trade goes..I wouldn't want trade as now it would help india raise more cash for the oppresion of innocent Kashmiris....

Where were you when India offered talks, Mujhs stopped in June 2000 but remained stubborn; when stage comes to involved Pakistan in talks?

Coming back to the main topic, trade between Pakistan and India has always been zilch; therefore, I don't see any chances of it in the future. We can have trade with rest of the South Asian and World Countries.

If you ask my opinion how to solve the tension between the two countries, before even going to talk about Kashmir, MFN status, re-start Samjotha Express and Karachi-Mumbai flight service. Put yourself in those peoples' shoes from both sides of the border, who haven't seen their relatives, love ones for more than a year. I reckon that would be a good start from India since it was the one, who abondoned it. Brotherhood will is in Test.

Speakin' of brotherhood will Mr. Vajpayee, it looks really bad when you bused in thousands of people from rural areas by the authorities. Oops, there goes Democracy!

:k: nicely said.

all it is is a "cosmetic" statement coz deputy sec. of state richard armitage is going to india. when he's gone vajpayee and his buddies will restart spitting fire and venom.

Indeed.

I don't know why Vajpayee is willing to discuss anything with Pakistan - last time he consented to do that, they went right back and started Kargil incursion. Ofcourse that time it was Musharaf - may be this time ABV may have higher opinion of Jamali may be?

In June 2000, India and Mujhs ceasefired. Mujhs were invited to Delhi. Talks had something close to three sessions. But when comes to involved Pakistan in talks, India remained stubborn. Talks collasped. Do you understand what I just said or do you need more English classes?

Well, even US couldn't stop infiltrations. We can also talk about Indian Arm forces brutalities against Kashmiris since they claim Kashmir to be their integral part. The main issue what Indians trying to do is to make LoC = IB, which Pakistan won't accept as the majority opinions of Kashmiris will be ignored.

Pakistan, on no. of occassion, has asked UN to deploy forces on both sides of the LoC. India rejected as they are accuser, prosecutor and judge at the same time

no un forces will come there they dont want to be caught between
both . wo will pay for this with bood and money for somebody's conlfict?
