I am not denying that Norway-Denmark was a kingdom(read above)…but then they were under the constant threats from Sweden all along their History…With Swedes great northern wars & Swedish empire…Read about the 1814 union of Sweden & Norway(and long before that Swedes had captured the mid fertile provinces of Norway including Trondheim and Bahusia in mid 1600’s,that later on Norway-Denmark regained)…that Norwegians always repented & got their independence from Sweden in 1905…This is right Norway-Denmark had a union but this was before Napoleonic wars…This is why Norway celeberated its 100 years of its Independence from Sweden this year :D…I don’t need to google…you are most welcome to… http://geography.about.com/b/a/177170.htm

Norway Celebrates 100 Years of Independence
Last week Norway celebrated its centennial of independence from Sweden. On June 7, 1905 a referendum in Norway caused the dissolution of its union with Sweden and rule under the Swedish king.
Anyways we were talking about the Rivalries…if Norway got independence from Swedes & can live with them why Can’t Ind/pak…

sorry you did not get my point, i was saying that norway and sweden could live without too many rivalries thought they are very similar countries because they have a long history of being two independant states, ie they were not the same country during centuries…but this is not the case for pak and india, pak and india are two RECENT creations…so rivalries are “needed” to justify the existence of 2 different countries, to help create 2 countries, so that in many centuries no one left will question the division btw india and pak

maybe another pist to explor is tha fact norway and sweden are two of the most developped countries in this world, caus scandinavian people are the most civilised poeple on this planet, but paki and indians are far from it…so they probably are far more ready to fight and querel about stupid issues than scandinavians…

well you said it. If ur facts is true.. then we are only just 50 or odd years with our rivalry, so give us little more time and we will come around it.

I have to say the whole posting stuff about rapes by all sides reconfirms the theory that rape and the use of violence has little to do with the act itself..the sad truth is the arguments are rarely about right or wrong and mostly about triggering a reaction.

As I can gauge from the Indian posts on this side, there is clearly a lot of love lost on their side. Pakistanis simply REACT to all that antagonism, otherwise we simply don’t care much for 'em.

Some people just enjoy hating, like those kids who enjoy torturing animals. Why make excuses like 'if only you'd stop making those kind of movies' or 'we only react'. Indians and Pakistanis both give and take, but from this forum I get the feelign many Pakistanis take things too seriously. Life is supposed to be taken lightly, even people who irritate you can be dealt with a smile and the person who can do that is a more likeable person.

in regards to the rivarly in general.....just learn to live with it. it is healthy in some manifestations (like cricket, civilized political discussion, etc.), and horribly detrimental in others (basically everything else).
the reality is that only time will erode the wall of hatred/mistrust. we are only 2-3 generations removed from partition.....it will take at least 10 before there is some sense of normalcy in the relationship.
