The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu , India is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a reclining form of Lord Vishnu. It is the first and foremost among the 108 Divya Desams, the holy abodes of Lord Vishnu. The temple chariot festival is famous during the 21 day Vaikunta Ekadasi when the Vaishnavite text, Tiruvaimozhi is recited before Lord Vishnu.
Religious documentation informs us that this temple is the only one of its kind for Lord Vishnu that was sung in praise by all the Alwars (Divine saints of Tamil Bhakthi movement), having a total of 247 pasurams (hymns) in its name.
Acharyas of all schools of thought – Advaita, Vishistadvaita and Dvaita – recognize the immense significance this temple, regardless of their affiliation.

i visted this place,this has the biggest shrine in india(height)
just awesome those structures,how they were able to lift those huge stones during BC.it took some hundreds of years to complete.
i think none of states in india can match tamil nadu in temples especially engineering in those days they had vast knowledge :)

^^ no cement, no steel, no electricity, no cranes and modern machines and yet they were able to achieve this feat thousands of years ago.
definately an asset for the modern world.

it is very intricate with hundreds of thousands of statues all over it. god knows how was it able to survive this long.
definately an asset for the modern world.
this pics doesn't show real beauty of the temple, it's pretty huge man.

**A water reservoir of Chittorgarh fort was covered here . Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame) and Meera temple, both located inside the fort, were covered here and here .
This tower was constructed by Mewar king Rana Kumbha between 1442 AD and 1449 AD to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji.
Dedicated to Vishnu, this 37.19 m high 9 storied tower is one of the most remarkable in India . It is built partly of red sand stone and partly of white marble and is enriched by numerous images of Hindu gods and goddesses with inscriptions at bottom of each. It is believed that the tower took 10 years to be completed. Each of the nine stories are distinctly marked with openings and balconies at every face of each story. The interior staircase winds alternately through the central chamber and surrounding gallery.
The portraits of the architect of this tower Jaita and his 3 sons, Napa, Puja and Poma are carved on the fifth floor of the tower. There are around 157 narrow steps leading to the terrace from where one can have a beautiful view of Chittorgarh town and the fort.

The agency responsible for its implementation is the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL). The first stretch between Baiyyappanahalli to M.G. First built in 1394, it burned down twice, this version was constructed in 1672 by the architect Syed Sadruddin Qurasani. The four minarets & the roof of the mosque are supported by 378 pillars, single pieces of deodar wood.
