at the rate australia is going i have a feeling they gonna win this match if they score 375-400 by the days end, most likely it will be a draw though.
Australia 236/3 (51.5 ov)
Australia already lost 3 wickets, and Ponting is gone too. Aussies will have hard time reaching 505.
this has been the toughest series - Australia is still 164 runs short to avoid follow-on - and it will be hard as most of the experienced batsmen have already left - i applaud Simon Kaitch for standing up at least
it's been Indians from the start - and i think this test match might end up Indians winning it - and series overall ...Waugh's farewell sigh
Very good performence by India. Excellent batting by Tendulaker, Laxman, Sehwag and Patel. And good bowling by Pathan and Kumble. Sehwag is constantly slapping his critics around and same with Kumble. He bowls a lot of overs, but he picks up wickets, which other Indian bowlers haven't been able to do as much. If India beats the Aussies, I think it will be great to see the Aussies lose the series to prove that they are beatable.
Whether india is able to win the game or not, they have proved that Australia’s bench bowling strength is only good for LOI, not for tests.
I was amazed to see Lee that jubilant after dismissing Ganguly, come on Lee, you havent done anything special. Only bowler who bowled his heart out was Gillespie.
The only negative thats gonna come out of Sachin’s knock was that he will again be labelled as God bla bla bla. Let him be human and play his game. Awesome innings :k:
I didnt watch Aussie innings but as score line suggest, they got 14 wickets and two days to survive. Test for the champs. Lets see If india creates history by beating them.

anyway.. about Tendulkar's innings, what do you expect ppl??? Muralitharan had a better aggregate than him for 2003!!! you think that won't be playing on his mind?? he was obviously very clear, that with Rahul gone it was his job to play the role of a sheet anchor and let the other batsman do the scoring which he did... He didn't play anything outside the off stump because he didn't want to!!! he got out a couple of times in this series playing outside the off stump and that was obviously on the back of his mind.. and at the end of the day.. it worked out just fine.. India scored 705, if he had put them into bat yesterday they would have probably scored 200 odd runs before losing a wicket and the pressure would have been on India, Ganguly did a great job of ensuring that Australia are forced to bat on a wearing pitch and not a good one, and when you consider that there are 2 full days left to go, you can't help thinking that barring a special performance by the Aussie batsman India are in with a great chance.

In that case you will have to eat another one for the benefit of KK guppies. Picture is required if you are going to save your reputation of keeping your word. No Ifs or buts.

My word, next time I will think twice before challenging any of FB's predictions!
Bye bye Nehra, hello Pathan. That reverse yorker was a beut. Nehra should pack his bags and go home to mommy.
Kumble was v v impressive today. I hope they've checked him for drugs cause his ol bones seem to be rejuvinating.
I watched the match with Indians and Aussies and I tell you all day long we've been discussing what happens next. The Aussies were insisting that one of the following wierd practice of forcing a result in this match will be followed by Waugh -
-Aus makes 505 and declares. India collapses for below 100 and Aus successfully chases 290.
-Aus makes 400 and declares. When I pointed out that India could enforce a follow on (and would gleefully) they said it might be folly cause again (you guessed it) India collapses for less than 100, and this time Aus has more than a day to chase 400 successfully.
-Aus makes 600 and declares with similar ending.
Talk about fantasy. All I can say is I hope Ganguly does not make the mistake of batting again, enforce the follow on if the lead is even 220 only.
ps. that Irfan dude is pretty good looking, eh?
^ oh, er um, that 'enforce the follow on' bit holds true only if there is one, of course. aussies might make 600 and declare for all you know.
Irfan Phatan bowled well… grabbed 2 wickets:k:
India.. well played.
Missed all the action...being in pinds sucks!
I am very disappointed in the other newcomer though - Murli Karthik. I had high hopes from him on this pitch.
Kartik’s figures : 16-1-101-0
He was dispatched for boundaries with amazing regularity.
Agarkar was his usual generous self too.
The fact is that the Indian batsmen have provided a very big cushion to the bowlers… otherwise the Indian bowling continues to be a problem. Australia’s scoring rate is 4.28 which is pretty good even for a one day match.
ps> Karina, some of the scenarios your aussie friends’ mentioned do not seem far-fetched to me…One other piece of info…is that some rain is forecast for today and tomorrow at Sydney… I think I will bet on a draw !

Hey,
I think and I want to be wrong this time.
What a beauty from Irfan? Both the ball which got Steve and Gilli were brilliant delivery. You rock boy :)
PS : Some1,Whats wrong with you man ;) whoever you criticize he does good.Agarkar,Chopra and now Kumble. You better start criticizing Murali kartik now. :(

By the way I loved the way ganguly waited for lee's doublre century and then declared. that guy is not gonna bragg again.

I m loving this test series. :)
f&b, I have not changed my opinion about Agarkar and Kumble.... I would still say that Agarkar should be thrown out at the first given opportunity...his bowling is too friendly for my taste.... but with Zaheer/Harbhajan gone and the fact that he took those 5 wickets at Adelaide.. there seems to be no alernative for the selectors right now...
About Chopra, I never said he was a bad player... infact I had not seen him bat before the first test of this series...From looking at the scores it felt that he did not have too many shots which is actually true....remember I asked you for your opinion on him.... for god's sake I am not your average arm--chair critic...

I have only seen Chopra in this match. I was not impressed. He was in trouble at the start of the innings and only surivived due to some good luck. Within two or three overs from Brett Lee he was caught behind off a no ball and then a simple chance was dropped. A very close call also went in his favour. This on a pitch where India scored 705 runs, does not speak volumes about Chopra. I don't know how many other chances the guy got but I watched only for 30 odd minutes and all this happened during that period, while on the other end Shewag was playing confidently.
Gillespie 31 not out

Australia 467/7 currently look all set to avoid the follow-on.
The mediocre Indian bowling attack being exposed for what it is.
^ Ok , just as I said that... Australia lost three quick wickets and were alll out for 474... but guess what... it looks like India has decided not to enforce the follow-on...
I think this is weird.... because say that the Indian batting collapses this time around for around 150 runs... Australia will be left with 350-360 runs to win on the last day which will be possible for them to get...
Well, I am not saying that this is what will happen...but why take a chance.... I dont know what is going on in Wright's/Ganguly's mind right now that they decided to do this...
Can someone(f&b?) explain what disadvantage India had in enforcing the follow-on....

Simple, Ganguly does not want his bowlers to bowl for such a long time.
India should set the target of 400 @ the end of day 4 and declare.
