India in Australia!

II hope Indian tail can manage to waste aleast another 1 hour tomorrow and thus reducing Aussies lead to 30-40 run. This will make match very intresting and put Steve waugh on double mind.

[/QUOTE]

Even better would be if tail and RD can waste the entire first session (what a hope). Kumble is a nutter bat. I hear Irfan can wield the willow.

Another tactic would be for RD to get his 200, allow 2-3 overs for nerves to settle, then slog. It'll be a huge psychological advantage to reach 556.

Great innings from both Dravid and Laxman. Hope Dravid gets his deserved 200 tomorrow. The match looks dead and buried now, barring a sudden batting collapse by either side, which at the moment does not look possible as it is a batting pitch and both sides have good batsmen.

Ehsan Bhai,

Wicket is turning very badly and detoriating very fast.We can have result here.if Stave Waugh makes some run today and give Indian 300-350 to chase on last day.

Really. What a pity that India has no real spinners in the side for this match. Kumble is but a medium fast bowler.

Even though there are only two days left, a result is still possible. India should IMHO try to take a 1st inning lead. Even if it is 1 run, the psychological advantage and confidence stemming out of that would be tremendous. As it is, this team has shut up a number of detractors and doubters (that includes me to a small extent). I like many others tend to think we failed when Sachin doesn't score and don't give enough credit to the rest of the gang of greats!

The run rate ain't too shabby either (ofcourse Aussies rate was much much higher)

lol..I agree..
I think in 2nd ining Sachin would be more handy than kumble. The ne over which sachin bowled in first ining..he made balls turn a lot.
So I am looking forward to it.

Ah, OK, then we could be looking foward to a great contest. Pity the match starts after midnight UK time.

As I said earlier,Macgill can be a guy to watch out for.

Well if there are no pebbles to be collected you can always watch the match. :hehe: Now, now no need for a reply.

Damn…dukhti rag pe haath rakh diya.. :rotfl:

pebble or no pebble ,I would have watched.

Well Played Laxman and Dravid. This is a slap in the face for all those who doubted Laxman's ability to play against quiality oppositions. He has proved that he is capable of batting well against the best side in the world.

Real life epic
AYAZ MEMON

If Ramesh Sippy were to make Sholay today, he would be tempted to name his two leading protagonists Dravid and Laxman instead of Viru and Jai as the epitome of friendship and partnership in fighting a common cause. The two batsmen have shown exemplary courage and character. They have produced epics. What’s more, Dravid and Laxman are for real.

You have to set many search engines in motion to come up with the few names in cricket history that have collaborated in 300-plus partnerships in Test cricket. Quite remarkably, Dravid and Laxman figure twice, and more remarkably both times against the best side in the world.

It obviously helps when you have played a lot of cricket together, as Dravid and Laxman have from the junior levels upwards.

But there is something more that makes the chemistry between them so exciting and productive — they have both come back from the brink. Both are completely contrasting batsmen, which adds a wonderful dimension to their partnerships, and how they have overcome the obstacles, both cricketing and psychological, makes for one of the more fascinating chapters in modern cricket history.

Not too long back, Dravid was being castigated for being a strokeless wonder, and Laxman was being chastised for being too profligate, even reckless. At different times, they have been out of the Indian team and for a very long time, both were under pressure to prove their bonafides.

Lesser mortals have won the right to wear the Indian cap with fewer hassles, but who says this a just or perfectly ordered world? Even the best are put to the test. How Dravid and Laxman have emerged from this examination defines their status. To use a contemporary phrase, they have simply rocked.

Note: This is only the third time a 300 run partnership has been made in Australia. The first happened some 85 yrs ago, the second some 40 yrs ago.

If this test is also a draw, it will take some calculating to find out when was the last time a team came and drew the first 2 tests. Anyone know?

Not too far.
NZ in Aus 2001/02 they played 3 draw tests thought they were lucky to have rains.

Oh yes! Tks, I'd forgotten about that. And when was the last time a visiting team won a test series?

wow. what an amazing performance by Dravid. Keep it up, shorty! :k:

and dravid makes his double ton!

Now he is on 221 .. with Kumble losing his wicket( lbw, Mcgill).

India on 510/8. Hope the tail wags for 2 more hours.

Zaheer Khan is missed at this point too... he would have come in handy with his decent batting skills.

That will be asking too much from Ashish Nehra. Anybody knows if Nehra has ever reached double figures.

^
yeah, that sure is too much to ask from Ashish and the new fella, but if dravid remains on strike for most of the part.. it can be achieved.

No batsman can shield a tailender for two hours. Sooner or later Irfan/Nehra will be smoked out ... much like Saddam Hussein was today :)
