India in Australia 2011-12

]

He is such a arrongant young dude thinks of himself too much

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

Apparently someone in the crowd cussed at him … still Kohli should have kept his emotions in check and avoided the middle finger salute..

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

Aah you see because the first test also didnt go the full five days, they were still in the slow start mode at the start of this test. :hehe:

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

Lets see whether the subservient ICC does anything about it or will they punish Aus for having such a crowd.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

I fear the worst for India. With 3 full days remaining and a deficit of almost 300 already, I cannot see them saving this game

We have seen sides bat for 2-2.5 days in the 3rd or 4th innings in the past to save a game -

most notably Hanif’s 337 v West Indies - look at the huge discrepancy between Pakistan’s 1st and 2nd innings scores!! http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/62835.html

  • but I just don’t see it happening in Sydney. Gambhir and Laxman are woefully out of touch. Maybe it is time for Laxman to hang up his boots and make way for a youngster like Pujara or Rahane

Once again the indian batsmen should take the major blame (Sachin is exempt) for this performance. Not sure why they struggled so badly in the 1st innings as they have a good record at SCG. Even the best bowling attack in the world cannot save you if you keep getting bowled out for under 200 totals in a test innings

Make it Australia 3-0 up with one (Adelaide) to play. Perth is one ground where you expect Australia to beat most sides comfortably because the wicket has both pace and bounce

A whitewash cannot be completely ruled out (Adelaide may still save India)

Lastly I hope Sachin does not score his 100th ton in the second innings at SCG. You don’t want to associate such a milestone with a Royal spanking!! If he does, it should atleast be in a game-saving cause

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

^ got to agree with everything above. Time for Dravid also to quit - his dropped catches at slips are becoming routine.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

Still a long way away from the record but will Clarke 251* go for Lara's 400*?

He scored 204 runs on day 2 and needs 151 more runs to break the record..

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

^ I think that is the only thing that can save India. Hope he goes for it. (Miandad 280 IK declaration comes to mind though)

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

I w’d still stick with Dravid. He had a good 2011 - mind you he scored three hundreds during a difficult English Summer for India. It would be unfair to drop someone who has just scored 1,000+ runs in a calendar year

Dhoni should hide him in the outfield if he is dropping so many slip catches + Dravid I am sure w’d handle the crowds much better than Kohli’s middle finger salute!!

Laxman has not made many runs of late. I thought his record w’d be awful in 2011 but he still managed to average 40.68 without doing anything special.

However there is a big drop in his performance since 2009 and 2010 (averaged 67 odd)

so maybe it is time for him to make a graceful exit for someone-else

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

^ yes Dravid did have a very good England tour.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

I dont find Kohli's middle finger gesture such a big deal. Who among us has not given such a gesture when someone has cuut us off while driving? One does need to have a bit of self-confidence bordering on arrogance to succeed at the highest level. I would rather have somone with Kohli's chip on the shoulder attitude than a doormat.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

FTB Sehwag gone cheaply, again. He had one wild swing which he was lucky to miss entirely. Not to be deterred, he went after another harmless ball outside the off-stump, and was caught brilliantly at gully. India 53 for 1. Aussies declared at 650+ for 4. Clarke ~ 330 not out, Hussey 150 not out

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

The ex-Wall Dravid gets bowled again - after surving a close inside edge that went past leg stump for 4.

Tendulkar survived a similar scar. Gambhir dropped by wkt keeper - a sitter. Also one catch did not carry to Clarke.
There was a stetch of 8 maiden overs in a row with Gambhir and Sachin at the crease.

india ~ 125 for 2. Abt 310 runs behind. Need a double century from Sachin and a century from Gambhir and Laxman, with 50s from Khli and Dhoni.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

:hehe:

The only possible thing of interest left for India is whether Tendulkar can get his elusive 100.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

^ aap zara dua keejiye, shayad ho bhi jaye!

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

**First time in Test history that a side has posted two 250+ partnerships in the same innings

**

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

Only difference is that he did it on his JOB. btw, he is fined 50% of the match fee as prescribed by ICC code of conduct so matter is dealt with and should not be dragged any further.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

This is a forum where we exchange ideas - di dnot realize there is a cut-off for matters to be closed. Anyway, I belive this is no big deal. As mentioned earlier, Younis Khan beating up a fan or Inziman-Ul-Haq going to the stands after a fan (when they were much older) merits more derision. Now, I wont drag this matter any further.

Yesterday, Ptttinson was gesturing wildly atthe umpire when he did not get a lbw decision in his favor (there was an edge). Clearly this too was a discipline case. The ump just went to Clarke to possibly ask him to have control on his player. Wont hold my breath to see if Clarke also gets fined xx%.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

I dont think that this gesture of Kohli required any kind of penalty BUT current code of conduct states that he should be punished.

BTW, Personally I am for scrapping all such foolish ICC code of conduct. Unless its something really serious such as Ponting doing animated argument with Aleem Dar and almost refusing to accept 3rd Umpire's decision having said that, I am sure you will agree that at times BCCI was able to twist arm of ICC due to its financial strength.

Re: India in Australia 2011-12

^DC - I realy do not know the politics in the last 25 years - started following seriously abt 1.5 years ago agfter long gap. All I can recall is during late 70s and early 80s, England and Aussies ruled, and punished visiting players from developing nations at will. I hear BCI has become powerful now. But from my limited sampling, I dont see evidence of that (I am sure I am wrong since I dont have all the facts) - if Pattinson gets fined, I would say the scales are at least even.
