Yes all this is true. But the reality is, as you state, India has enough middle class to outnumber a lot of western countries. That is the undeniable truth. Why would India need to market it? Why would it need to maintain cosmetic appearance?We have in abundance what the phirangs need to do business with, that is the rich and middle class. That is what they care about. What makes you think they ignore poverty in India? Every other phirang narrative is about India’s massive poverty. They deal with us despite our poverty. It is because we also have money. But some people cannot swallow this and need reasons like appearance and cosmetics to make themselves feel better.
