India Bollywood's Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

I was always under the impression that many of these songs were actually Hindi songs, but I had no idea they were original Pakistani songs stolen by Indian film industry. There is almost 2 hours long documentary on Youtube about this.

Small clip bellow…funny thing is that many Indians are s surprised by this, too (see Youtube comments section).

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

Bollywood is a big market and it has captured Pakistani youth very well. As you were under perception that these are all original Indian songs, so is the most of Pakistani youth. What annoys me more now is promotion of Indian songs in Pakistani programs (dramas, news and even music contests like Pakistan Idol) as if Pakistan didn’t get its own music.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

^^^ They are using our material to dominate us culturally. As for idol, that’s more international thing & it helps in discovering new talent (which probably is net positive, IMO).

India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

What is Pakistan doing to support its own industry?

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

but if a program got name of "Pakistan idol’, why they are allowing Indian music in it? Can’t we discover local talent by making them sing Pakistani songs?

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

Bollywood is built on ripping off ideas from other industries. Zero originality.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

I don’t disagree with what you are saying & Pakistan idol should have Pakistani songs ( & many of them are in fact Pakistani songs), but Indians are shamelessly copying stuff from everyone w/o giving credit to artists who deserve credit.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

It’s only plagiarism if it wasn’t a folk song before. Long Gawacha is a folk song, so anyone can sing it.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

Nice username.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

meh.. get in line. bollywood has been copying prolifically from every possible source - south indian, eastern european, korean. at least with pakistanis they are consumers of bollywood, there is some poetic justice to it for ignoring their own “kanjars and marasis” to be fed the same thing by bollywood.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

Hey, who you callin’ kanjars and marasis. :emmy:

Pakistanis love and appreciate their artists.

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

I am not against playing indian songs in Pakistan Idol.To me Pakistan Idol is just a banner to hunt talent from Pakistan. It doesn’t matter what songs are they singing as they say music has no boundaries.Lata mangeshkar, Asha bhosle and kishore kumar are inspiration for many!

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

This is the great website… has all copied and original songs with names to shame them.

Here in France they also have their own music talent shows and 95% participants sing English songs in French accent. Now that becomes a treat to watch, french singing english songs

Re: India Bollywood’s Plagiarism of Pakistani Music

Hmm there are loads that bollywood has copied from here n there.

Larka Badnaam Hua"- Umar Sharif (1992)..they renamed it to Munni Badnam

Indian industry lack creativity. They have ran out of music rhythms. And somehow our Pakistani music appeals to their young audience.
