well.. my views.. indians and pakistanis are creatures with bollywoodesque ideas - eager to hug, and even more eager to mob and kill. no thanks. stay within their own boundaries for now, build sufficient and stable national identities to not feel threatened by each other's ideologies. exchange goods and services like two good neighbours that rely on each other, grow some goodwill instead of fighting like two beeches over a chicken bone day in day out. and then we'll talk about soft borders, what not.

why is the eagerness to hug and having good progressive relations mean that we are influenced by bollywood?
i personally haven't watched a bollywood movie in, i can't even remember now when i watched one last.

If I was an Indian president, I would keep the same tension between two countries as that tension (and in turn, Pakistan) acts as a buffer (and I said it so many times) between India and the otherwise fragile and violent Middle East. When you are hugging Pakistan, you are hugging an entity whose western side is cancerous. I would remain on the east side of such entity but keep enough distance from it.

I dont blame Indians. We (Pakistanis) are growing into a weaker nation, mainly because of our corrupt and spineless leadership. Who wants a weaker friend. Weak nations are liabilities, especially in a region as sensitive as south east asia and Middle east

Yes, from India but live in the US.
I am not sure this strategy is 100% beneficial though since the heavy defence expenditure might outweigh any perceived foreign relations gain with the middle east.

its not like india gives up any goodwill with the middle east/iran/afghanistan for its stance with respect to pakistan. fact is, most countries besides pakistan has the ability to think objectively regarding the pros and cons of having good relations with india. and the same goes the other way - even the frothing from the mouth hindutva sorts have no problem importing natural gas from iran, but can't imagine buying aalu tinday via wagah. so no, it is not an issue of needing a buffer. it is even sillier than that if you try to define it down.
