Independence Day - United States

We celebrate American Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. The 4thof July is one of the most celebrated occasions in the United States. Independence Day, or the Fourth of July, is one of the most important days in the history of the United States of America. The Fourth of July is a time to commemorate America’s declaration of separation from Great Britain that was made on July 4, 1776. The 4th of July is a day to celebrate the United States, its freedom, and to display patriotism and unity as a country. Various activities such as: Parades, barbecues, festivals, and fireworks have all become staples of the celebration. The 4[SUP]th[/SUP] of July also reminds us of all the sacrifices made by our fallen and serving soldiers. Their sacrifices make it possible for us to celebrate the Independence Day.

Re: Independence Day - United States

Happy Independence Day to you.

But what do you mean by celebrating 'freedom'? Are you free form AIPAC influence? Are you free from Israel lobby? Of course not.
Today the situation is that no one dares to say a word about Israel lobby. Even you can not say a word. Otherwise you will lose the job.
Point to ponder.

Again, happy Independence Day.

Re: Independence Day - United States

Happy Independence day Amreeka...... seriouly u guys need to check urself. Why do u middle in others affairs..

Re: Independence Day - United States

Please stop taking out your frustration on a straight forward thread. Every country is influenced by lobbies, its no-brainer and will continue to do so.
Lets just congratulate a country for completing its another year of freedom.

Happy independence day!! Peace.

Re: Independence Day - United States

Freedom for its citizens. You can root for any foreign president and say obama murdabad without a sedition charge brought against you. You can marry the person of your choice without the fear of getting stoned outside a courthouse in front of the police. You can follow any religion you want, without getting sentenced to death. Nobody will slog you if you are not fasting. You fast only for the sake of Allah ta'aala. Not for the fear of some religious police. You have all kinds of rights that in most countries you cannot even think of.

As for the government, it works just the same way as any government in the world. It is surrounded by power brokers who weild influence and money as their tool. Nobody is preventing Arabs or muslims or Pakistanis to have their own lobbying groups. In fact they do, they just don't do a good job of it. With one exception, Ahmed Chalabi. That is a whole other thread.

Stay with the big picture here. You might not agree with the policies of US, but you must agree with its principles. A lot of those principles have roots in Islam. We abandoned them and they adopted them.

PS: I must add, it is still the land of opportunity. You have to live it to know it.

Whatever the foreign policies might be, USA is the best place in the world for someone living in this country legally.

Happy independence day USA

Re: Independence Day - United States

Yes, for** its citizens**. And that is good.

But principles ka achaar Daalna hai ?
From the perspective of people living outside the US, it has mostly been a militaristic bully and a monster that has directly and indirectly caused the deaths of millions of civilians since WWII in all regions of the world including South East Asia, Far East, South America, Middle East and South Asia.

Re: Independence Day - United States

They were able to wage a war is testament to the liberties they enjoy. The 2nd amendment is still alive and well.

As for the militaristic bully, are you going to hold it against the US that they do what they do to protect their interests? Every nation in every age has done it.

PS: The core principle of US foreign policy is self-interest. Not justice. Once you start thinking about it in those terms, a lot of what they do will make sense. We all would like it to be justice, but it just isnt.

Re: Independence Day - United States

Hope it (the 2nd amendment - the right to bear arms) stays that way.

Though, in these times of curtailed civil liberties and unbridled surveillance, it seems that the Pakistani-Americans must feel compelled to be more loyal than the proverbial king himself. :)

Re: Independence Day - United States

That amount of freedom is found in most non-Muslim countries today. Nothing special about the Us. Isn't it?

I don't want to make it an America bashing thread. But this stuff about land of opportunity is just a slogan today. Today there is very little movement in social classes in the US. Rich stay rich. Poor stay poor. In most cases.

Re: Independence Day - United States

To give an example of how little freedom US media has, consider how slavishly the outlets like CNN/MSNBC/Fox, all of them have followed government's narrative without questioning. Be it the Gulf War, Iran/Russia demonizing, or Israeli slavery.

Heck, even Pakistani media has more freedom than this.

And no one should think that these issues don't effect common Americans. They actually do big way. Who else but Americans would go fight the demons their government constructs itself using its full media control?

yeah, yeah, very free. Had Americans been free, there would not have been the use of radio channels like NPR or Democracy Now.

Re: Independence Day - United States

Good point.

Slogans_die_hard :)

Re: Independence Day - United States

Not really. You can't say the same about Russia or China or North Korea and several other non-muslim states in Africa. You are right though, US is not unique, but it is July 4th. That is what is special.

Probably true about the social classes. But not true about the opportunities. We just saw Whatsapp's co-founder, a poor immigrant, become a billionaire. Still feel there are more opportunities here than most other countries.

Re: Independence Day - United States

I think you are head over heels because you are comparing US with Pakistani. That would make sense.

However, when compared to other first world countries, America may be a good place but not the best place.

PS: why do I keep getting emails on my personal email account anytime someone quotes my post? Please fix that. It is very annoying and it is filling up my email account. thanks.

Re: Independence Day - United States

So listen/watch to BBC or any other media who you think is unbiased. I don't think the government will stop you from it. That is the kind of freedom not many enjoy.

Re: Independence Day - United States

I think you fix that by going to 'My Settings' in 'About Me' window.

Re: Independence Day - United States

itti phurtiyaan… 2 din pehley hi janam din ki mubarakbaad? Pay day?

Anyways, happy independence day USA.

P.S.1. How long do you plan to live off the blood of others?
P.S.2. You should be happy to know thatAfrican leaders have decided to follow in the footsteps of your leaders.

Re: Independence Day - United States

Lets put the blame where it belongs. As long as mulsim leaders sacrifice strategic goals for tactical gains, there will be someone around to exploit us. If it is not US, then it will be Russia or China or ISIS/L. We either work on making ourselves strong and take charge of our fates or be crybabies and stay weak.

Re: Independence Day - United States

^ Not blaming. Just asking a question. Of course, the blame lies on the weak.

P.S. Exploiting Muslim countries is just a recent phenomenon considering the long US history of 'indulgence'.

Re: Independence Day - United States

yeh yeh, amreekaa follows Principals. That is why Afiya sidiqi is behind bars...... 86 years....... Omg, what a civilized country..... You guys live in US , that is the reason...
