What is indulgence to you is self-interest to others. Be it Suez Canal or Panama Canal, powerful countries do what is in their self-interest. Nobody will ask the weak what their self-interest is.

I agree that every superpower in the history has been brutal to others for its self-interest and that's how things work in the world. But you should also know that most of the brutal civilizations were hated by the weaker ones as well.
Agreed that weaker nations would fall prey to the stronger ones. But does that mean that I can't tell you that words like liberties, freedom, democracy, etc feel so massively ironic when American leaders utter them?
If on these forums, the country called Pakistan can be (most of the times, justifiably) ridiculed, demonized and mocked for everything its government does, why give immunity to USA?
Again, not blaming. Just sayin. At least don't take away my rights of free spe.....

^ I think you and are I on the same page here. The irony and hypocrisy of American leaders is not lost on me. But I would like to conclude with two points. First American presidents are also politicians and they operate within its confines. Obama in Cairo is different from Obama in New Orleans. And second America as a concept is bigger than any of its Presidents and that is what July 4th is about.
