Agarkar remains the same Agarkar he was yesterday....utterly useless player....though I will say that he is better than some of the other bowlers during the SLOG overs.
These occasional five-for bowling performances in one-day matches don't mean anything...even "great bowlers" like Srikanth and Tendulkar have taken five-fors in one-day matches.

^Who knows...the South Zone Quota may be exhausted by the inclusion of Santh.
I have also noticed that players who tend to be too modest, not very flamboyant and with unremarkable self-esteem tend to fade quietly into oblivion...hopefully that does not happen with Balaji.

How many zones are there? And what is the Quota for each?
Does that mean if the quota is exhausted, a talented player cannot make it into the squad. I guess I heard that in such a case players try to get into the national side by switching their domestic teams or zones. I think Pathan or zaheer or some one else did that, I don’t remember exactly.

I think he got injured a while ago, and he was definitely not too effective in the last few ODI's he played. Nehra is probably India's best ODI bowler and i am sure he is injured (not dropped). Like Pakistan, India has selection problems as well(especially in ODI's).
Agarkar,Pathan,SreeSanth, Balaji, Nehra, Zaheer and even youngsters like RP Singh, VRV Singh etc.
Pakistan has played Rana, Sami and Rao in the recent ODI's. Now they have probably 3 more fit senior bowlers Akhtar, Shabbir and Gul(he started playing even before Rana). Plus there are youngsters like Yasir Arafat, yasir Ali, Irshad etc.

I doubt that quota system has anything to do with selection, especially in Balaji’s case.

officially there are no quota for zones … but thats what selectors did untill last few years. This was mainly due to domination of bombay players at one time …
zaheer is from maharashtra, who played in mumbai under 19 and then shifted to baroda …

No, Balaji is not injured. Infact he played in the India vs India A series leading up to this series...and even dismissed Tendulkar in his comeback game.
As for the quota limit, there is no written rule....however the comsposition of the selection commitee and the way it works ensures that every zone must be represented in the team...which means that some zones can only have so many players in the side even though they may have additional deserving candidates.

He had some abdominal injury if I remember correctly but I guess he recovered and performed well during Pak India series. I doubt its his injury due to which he is out.
