Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
as far as i knew.....wat a wife earns is hers given that she obides to the duty of a gud wife as we wud expect from a guy to fullfil all the obligations one husband shoud do to keep his wife anf family happy.
Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
Its simple
Its husband's responsibility to bare the expenses of the family. So his money is wife's money too but its not true other way. What wife earns is HERS to keep. If she want to put her part in everyday expenses its ok but Hubby cant force her to do that
Hi,
Does husband have authority on his wife's income or he can give order to his wife to spend her money on his family, is that true or not ??
islamically, whatever a wife earns is hers to keep, she doesnt have to use it to support her in laws... a gud husband wud never order his wife to give her money to his family/relatives/him.

even for zakaat?

Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
Wife's money are for her to keep, as much as it may be. It is man's responsibility to provide for her but if she wants to help willingly then there is no problem.
Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
Husband has no right over his wife's income. It is not family money, it is her money and she can do what she wishes with it. :)
If she wants to spend it on her/his family, she can. However, she is under no obligation as its not her responsibility to provide for the home.

Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
If the wife works full time like the husband does, spends 12 hours outside of the house making her career and not taking care of the home and family any more than the husband does, then why would she not be expected to pitch in for the bills?
Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
^ thats what i was thinking.
We both work. So there is no issue of his or my money.. we both work jsut as hard.. and whatever we earn is OUR money
sure, he may not islamicly ask me to give what i earn to him or whatever.. but if we're both earning and trying to work together in achieving a goal, then whatever i earn is OUR money.. there isnt any other label

for the home and expenses i can understand...but why should she be forced to give to her in laws?
everything is fine and dandy when both are doing it of their own free will and out of love and kindness, but the original poster is asking abt if husband has any authority to make his wife fork over her cash..

Good Point! Marriage is all about sharing! Not his or hers or yours or mines...
Re: Income of Wife ... Authority of Husband ???
Ghamdi was asked in a talk show about women working, and he replied that they may work if they want to. However, once they take that step and leave their household responsibilities behind, they should work with the motive of trying to bring in half of the bread on the table. It becomes a responsibility then just as it is for men.

Its not the "why would not" or "why should not" etc, its the question is "if she is REQUIRED". Sure if she wants to pitch in with her contribution that will be good but she is not REQUIRED to do that.
