Re: In the year 2507 - there will be no religions
Religions will never leave us.
Religion provides an explanation for the seemingly unexplainable and unfair things in life, death of a loved one, for instance. Suffering, pain, and pleasure.
Religion provides meaning for people's lives. No one likes to contemplate that our lives are just random events with no inherent meaning, and that when we die, it's all over. We conjure up afterlives to trick ourselves into believing that what we do actually matters.
Humans have an inherent, pitiful need to believe in something greater than themselves. It's why we created gods. It feeds our pride to believe that we are working for some greater being's master plan. It also provides an escape for the cowardly. By humbling ourselves before the feet of an invisible master being, we can escape responsibility for our actions by saying it was the Will of God. Religions truly are for the masses of people who simply can not believe in themselves, and can not draw willpower from within, so they invent something else to draw power from.
As long as mankind yields to despicable self-loathing, religions will continue.

So don't you think humans will evolve out of such aimless beliefs?
