malhot - first why don't you substantiate why you think 'science would have progressed so much' and how 'a very advanced science' would prove these 'beliefs' false? may be they'll prove they are true?

10000 years ago or more than that, we don't know as to who influenced this world the way jesus or muhammad did. With time people have forgotten about it completely. So even these current religious figures will also be forgotten completely after some time. besides we need not go that far, just go 5000 years ago, we have forgotten important people from that era also. So no religion is ever going to exist.

Besides, the way things are, most religions might get forcefully get extinct in near future itself:Dor new sects will crop up further dividing things.

Get real. It's impossible to disprove religion and God, because at its core the concepts are unprovable.

Religion would be more likely to die if God was proven, because than all religions would be deemed false because of the belief that you must have faith.

science is rational, religion is not. when it comes to arguements science will trump religion any time. over the years science has proven itself to be the one that has come out with flying colors in all its tests. it has thrashed many of the old mythologies. people use to beleive in them. now they laugh at them. who in this day and age would believe that there are gods like raydon, atlantis or zeus etc? more than two thousand years ago even the most wisest believed in that crap.
the only defence of a person believing in religion is his faith. and if faith had been the true guiding light then we would have all had the same faith.
still I strongly disagree with the assertion of the OP. science might advance too much but it will not be able to eliminate all the religion. for that you will need rational, open minded people. faith will make sure that people remain irrational, close minded.

Adam & Eve is just a theory not a fact - there goes the religious statements in the quran & bible. Scientific research shows evolution theory as the most probable explaination in the stages of human development.

Marrying cousins - Science & medical research proves this could lead to genetic defects in subsequent generations.

Jesus being son of God, or Mohammed speaking to God in a cave - will be subject scientific scrutiny over the next few hundred years. Already the myth of Ram's bridge linking Sri lanka has the Hindu's up in arms.

Angels in the Bible and Hoors in the quran? Where's the proof?

Once science starts questioning these basic tenants of religion - we too will start questioning if the rest was just made up by these people to convince us that these are the words of God.

How can you prove that is not a “fact”? Human “evolution” still doesn’t really explain whether there was a “Adam & Eve”, there are disconnect as well.

How does that “disprove” a “belief”? :konfused:

Care to elaborate how science is going to “disprove” and not “prove” it?

As someone said above, basis of “religions” is on “faith”, not on “proofs”, if anyone can “prove” it then there is no need of “religion”.

captain, i think you are twisting what i said to make it look like i was advocating religion. i wasnt. the "faith" in things that can not be proved is good enough for any rational person to leave religion and live a free life. faith blinds people. why would people want to be blind is a whole new thread.

I never understood why the whole idea of "adam and eve being the first humans on earth and that's how the human race was propagated" makes any sense at all.
Is it that brothers and sisters did what they should not be doing?

All of these ideas in most religions like of course how God created the universe in 7 days is going to be disproved in the year 2507 when people still believe these things in the year 2007. What exactly will happen in that year that will get all people to abandon these kinds of beliefs?

Check the last 1428 years. Islam has never contradicted itself but Science has always contradicted iteself from time to time with every new development / research.

Only a couple of decades ago did they realise the existence of electron's other half (positron).... and indeed, everything has been made in pairs!

There r plenty more examples... pick up the quran and read it yourself, there is nothing in it that contradicts the true nature of the issue at hand.*

Knock-out - No I was not there. But Adam & Eve theory cannot explain all the different species of animals,insects & fish. Did God go about making an Adam & Eve for each of the millions of species?

I think the one cell aemeba split to 2 cells etc & evolution theory over millions of years seems to stand to scrutiny. Different species have adapted to their surroundings, and changed to suit their surroundings.

The mountains were made when 2 plates of different continents struck each other. Even today if we look at the land mass we can sometimes see the aparent rips between continents & lands.
