Pakistan cooperated in the war on terror because it happens to border Afghanistan (the focus of America’s war on terror).
America knows that Pakistan is the primary sponsor of terrorism in the world and a great example of the Islamo-fascism that endangers the world. America’s partnership with Pakistan is temporary and superficial. Musharraf did not have a choice in deciding to help America, against Pakistan’s direct interests in Afghanistan. Whether Musharraf has made the right gestures to get the most of the partnership is the question. Kowtowing to US might is hardly courageous. Musharraf might just have saved Pakistan, however, because Pakistan has more to lose than Afghanistan (in infrastructure and people) and facing our military would have devastated Pakistan.
Facing the US military would have obliterated India too
