In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Yeh why not! :smokin:
 The irony of the matter is that ‘Adults’ also/always have 4-5 openers in their suggested team lineup. Obviosuley too busy in suggesting a replacement for Shoaib, but in vain.
I already can imagine a huge gap in the ‘Genuine’ pace attack. This can give Indian openers an advantage of 'Scoring a Century stand ’ at will.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Please don’t make me cry :frowning: . I’m afraid of Sehwag.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Awee ,Sehwag! does he comes in before Dravid and Gangu or LAxman? :konfused:

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

No vice-captaincy, will not tour India, Shoaib told PCB
Asian News International
Islamabad, February 21, 2005

Tearaway fast bowler Shoaib Akthar may cited his hamstring injury as the reason for not touring India, but if other sources in the Pakistan cricket establishment are to be believed, the “Rawalpindi Express” opted out because he was not given the vice captaincy for the mega series.

According to the sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board had assured Shoaib of the vice captaincy after the conclusion of the Pakistan tour to Australia, but when the offer was not made by the national selection committee, Shoaib cited fitness problems to avoid the the India tour, reports Online News.

It has been further reported that Shoaib used negative tactics to gain the captaincy of the team by creating a rift among the players during Australian tour and also pressurised some of PCB officials.

Shoaib was said to be fit for VB series but his recent statements of suddenly being unfit for Indian tour before the announcement of squad has raised many questions and opened doors of chaos in minds of cricket experts who think that he is fit to represent his country against arch-rivals India.

Sources revealed that pitches in India are spinners friendly and bowls turns vigorously which does not favour fast bowling to a great extent and speedster (Shoaib) bearing in mind the spinner friendly pitches has opted out of Indian series as it will effect his performance.

It must be mentioned here that Shoaib under performed against archrivals India last year in March and wants to forget the bad memories left from the series.
The sources further said that the PCB officials and Shoaib are working on a deal, according to it Shoaib will miss the Test series but feature in the one-day series in view to show his performance in limited time and restricted overs available to him in the shorter version of game (10 overs).

The 29-year-old, who has taken 144 Test and 186 one-day international wickets, pulled out of the tour just a day after a PCB disciplinary committee found him guilty of violating contractual clauses and fined him 500 dollars.

Makes me wonder if somewhat of this is true. I could see Shoaib opting out due to the pitch reasons, but his behavior wasn’t really captain material in Australia, so why would he be promised the vice captaincy then? Or do they mean he was promised before the Australian series began?

Shoaib has missed 30 of the 66 Tests Pakistan have played since he made his debut in November 1997. **

Asian News International? Typical Indian media. Please don't come up with unreliable sources to prove your points, homies.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Game bhai.. Shoaib Actor is a pansy.
The amount of hype he thinks he should receive is astonishing, considering he's not quality calibre of McGrath. McGrath doesn't need the captaincy to play better, or for that matter of fact to play in general.

I rather lose without a Shoaib Akhtar, than lose with a Shoaib Akhtar that will blame it on everyone else.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib is not going to India, that's a pretty satisfactory outcome for me.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

If anybody should be captain after Inzi leaves, it should be Abulrazaq.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar takes to controversy like a duck to water. His latest refusal to play in the Pakistan's domestic cricket - the Patron's Trophy- has caused ripples in Pak cricket.

The PCB wanted Shoaib to prove his fitness ahead of the Pak tour but the Rawalpindi Express decided to sit out instead! Pakistan's chief selector Wasim Bari said he was completely clueless on Shoaib Akhtar's fitness level following the paceman's refusal to play in the Patron's Trophy.

It's not the first time Shoaib's been in a soup. During the recent Australian tour he was fined by the team management for 'indiscipline'. He was fined for arriving late for the team bus but a deeper look reveals something else. The Pak team manager clarified, "The real fact regarding the driving controversy is that he had the team management's permission to drive in his sponsored Lexus car while we walked for practice. But during the first Test, Shoaib came with us on the team bus.” Clearly team spirit is not Shoaib's best known virtue.

His tryst with the fairer sex during the Aussie tour is well documented. It was all over the web but Shoaib said it was all fabricated. He attributed all the negative stories to a campaign launched by India! If anything he should realise that India loves mavericks - Bollywood bad boy Salman Khan being a case in point.

Within the Pak team, Shoaib has few friends and fewer sympathisers. There were rumblings of an internal rebellion against Akhtar with captain Inzamam leading the way. Top players Yousuf Youhana, Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Rana Naved-ul Hassan and Salman Butt decided to insist on omitting Shoaib from the India tour after their return from Australia according to Pakistan's local daily The Nation . The players threatened to boycott the remaining part of the Australian tour and the series against India if Shoaib was included, the paper claimed.

Coach Woolmer also has grievances against the bowler. He had asked him to shorten his run-up since it ate into Pak's overate making Inzy liable to be banned, Shoaib's reply was,"a jet cannot get full flight if its runway is cut short."

Shoaib has not even spared the Pak team physio. He refused to be checked by him when he broke down during the Aussie tour by saying he wasn't a class 'A' certified doctor. He preferred going abroad for treatment.

Pakistan players feel they can do without Shoaib and the results show. Without him in the Aussie tour, the team won a match against Australia and West Indies in the VB series and qualified for the finals to play the home team in the triangular series.

Even Rahul Dravid normally a cool customer indicated in a column last week that Shoaib is merely hogging the limelight by giving juicy sound bites and concentrating less on his primary task - bowling fast.

Shoaib needs to be left alone. The media attention has clearly disoriented him from his main goal. Ignore him and the fellow will fall in line. A man given to all things fast - whether it's fast cars or fiery bowling, Shoaib is clearly struggling to handle success. His fitness is in shambles and popularity within the team is at an all time low.

As for India maligning his fair name, the though is completely ludicrous. If anything, India would love to have him here as he has always been thumped to the fence by all Indian batsmen. If at all there is a conspiracy, it is by the Pak players who know they have a better chance of winning in India if Shoaib is not bowling!

Oh My God !!!
This last paragraph is such an insult to shoaib.
Here is to hoping he does read this and grows up to come back some day and have the last laugh.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

All you ^ ^ new wannabes with 20-40 posts should avoid this cut & paste business. If I’m
interested in this garbage, I would be doing my on ‘Fishing’ on the web. So lay off :mad2:

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

I think raindance = duck and water

thanda ho yaara :p

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

I have said in past and repeat, Shoaib is definitely aiming for captaincy... He told Aussies long before this Aussie tour that he'd come to Australia as "Captain", but he couldn't, perhaps he still went there as articles suggest that PCB might have promised him VC after Aussie tour but then PCB didn't offer him VC and now he backs off the tour.

May be he'll get disciplined only after he gets the captaincy, but then it is really a big gamble and we might loose Inzamam, Razzaq and Youhanna from team (not altogether, one at a time)... Just wait n watch what happens in a year's time frame.
