In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Hey I would have loved to see Shoaib in action. But your bowler is the one who chickened out. Better now than in the 2nd innings of the the 2nd test eh?

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Acting like sheep and suing him because he went to some oh-so-against-Islam nightclub caused him to opt out. Chickening out is not in his nature, otherwise he won’t make over-the-top statements that he usually does.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Game Bhai,

Dont you get it yet, thats precisely what gets him into hot waters in the first place, read my earlier post, IF he could stop making those “over-the-top statements” he would no doubt have been the MOST lethal bowler.

Waise I do have to agree with you about the chickening part, if anything at all he is definately not a quitter atleast where controversaries are concerned, but where bowling is concerned well thats a whole new story.

 :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Et tu Aejaz  ? Let’s enjoy the 3-0 washout at the hand of the indians. Cheers!

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

PCB has handled him in the worst possible way I agree. But he hasnt helped his case either. I remember just after WC 2003, Rashid Latif used him very well and kept him a 'team man'. But after that Indian series and Inzi as captain, all changed for the worse.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

If that truly is the reason why he was kept out which forced him to make up that hamstring BS then it is a sad state of affairs for Pakistan cricket. I doubt it though, as he was officially cleared of disciplinary charges.

The bottom line is that if he backed up his antics with consistent solid performances then it would never be much of an issue. If he was winning matches for Pakistan, I doubt anyone in the PCB would have the balls to drop him. If you recall, Wasim and Waqar were hardly saints in their hey day, but that never got in the way of their careers.

As for chickening out, history speaks for itself

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

Good point. It’s so obvious that Inzi is a maulana who can’t stand Shoaib’s personal life. That is no excuse for the treatment our country’s best fast bowler received. Really.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

every team has been through rebuilding stages but i agree on this one .. this was purely done byPCB

saeed anwar's career was ended after preforming brilliantly in 2003 world cup

imran parchee farhat was given more chances than basit ali i beleive

saqlain mushtaq is another example.

and the list goes on...

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

pakistan have seem to bowl better without shoaib akhtar. it seems that rest of the bowlers have picked up their games. rana is bowling awesome, razzaq is reutrning to his old form, rao can swing the ball and he is a really good prospect. also if shoaib isn't there then mohammed sami will concentrate more on line and length then pace. after shoaib left in the vb series. we bowled out the ausies 2 times back to back and then took nice wickets the third time. we also bowled out the WI. also in the india tour of pack, the only test we won was when shoaib wasn't playing. he might be the most lethal bowler in pak but becuz of his attitude, he doesn't deserve a place in the team. if he can shut up and stop making outrageous comments and just pay attention to his game. i think we have the best bowling attack in the world.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

True! Shoaib Akhter did not step on any ones tail in PCB; neither Bob could have cared any lesser if Shoaib was on the starter’s line up or not.
Yet people complain about his 'blabber mouth', his arrogant attitude, his weird behavior, and his 'faking injury' problems.

^ Non of the accusations and claims-counter-claims have been found credible so far.

You all must remember one thing; this guy "Shoaib Akhter" has been quite diplomatic in his handling of this situation SO FAR. The reason is quite simple. HE WISHES TO CONTINUE PLAYING FOR PAKISTAN as much and as longer as possible.

He's the world fastest and wicket taker bowler proven to be many a times.
He has been prevented or detoured from his "Developing" Skills to the level of "Sustaining to survival" mode quite often, shrouded by accusations of fake injuries,
Extra curriculum activities while on tour and what not.

On The field he looks ever so ‘Sharp’ and ‘Complete’
His fielding and his ‘pickup and throws’ are sharp and scary at times.
His body language and physic does seem to be ‘full and bodily’ prone to injuries for what he does.

I stand firm in saying that because of what he does the best, pisses people off for indirect reasons and so far no **firm accusations to his extra curriculum activities are questioned nor proven. No firm criticism or suggestions has come foreword concerning his bowling or Injury concerns have come forward so far **Where is the justice in this ?

He is simply being hissed and hated and there's a strong lobby against him to see him parish, as the likes of Atta-ur-rehman. Aqib, Zahid, Fazal or few others did.

I question people, why? Surly his 'alleged' crimes are not as pathetic as that of his predecessors ?

Before you answer this question, please make sure that there is 'some thing NEW in your criticism beside the stupendous accusations of faking injury, visiting discos,, (He went to no discos in Australia during the tour. It was an 'invite to a private function with a make shift stage and a DJ action) Night clubs and discos don’t look like the the crap it showed in the photos.

Yes he drinks beer and that’s all he knows about alcohol or drugs.
Yes! He is a bachelor and in the market for a mate and also to have fun while in search for soul mate. .
No question! He has female fans who would like to have a one night stand with him just for the heck of it.
Yes! His ego and his pride do go to his head some times. It’s quite normal with players and some times it hinders their performance and psychology on the field.

Yes! He takes wickets. Ask Sachin and Hayden ,, "they" will confirm the ‘pleasure they take’ in hitting him for a 'Six' or a stunning shots. (It’s an honor to hit shoaib for a six or good shot beating his pace. It is quite legendary for batsmen to do so and to cherish it.

Even the opponent knows the un predictability this guy can show at times, and has proven this many a times. Pity, only people in Pakistan has such short memories.

And how we treat him? Like a piece of $hit and trash, which he's NOT.

Ok, that’s fine. Many among us don't like him and call him by many idiotic names and stuff. But what does this prove?
This proves that when it comes to criticism, there are no boundaries neither ethics or balanced opinions for his "Character, which is open and not hidden"

His skill and tactics, which are developing and suppose to be 'fueled' by home support, are neither developing nor feasible under pressure..
No opinions or advices are heard or seen except for his 'Run-up' which is due to a basic concern of reducing the 'Over rate' and Captain’s match fee deductions as a fine . (Therefore no Captain can afford to give him a flat-out over spree in a ‘Test’ match or ODI.

Remember! Always let the stallion rumble the way it wants. Don't try to restrain it just because you are loosing few games and crowd + media inserts pressure at times.
It never occurs to them that a player could be 'under a bad form' patch.

Last but not the least, don't get influenced by the 'media's hot scoops' or the generalization, which is often damaging and insulting to the country and the player.

Some time there is no harm in just convincing your self to 'zip it' even if you think you’re right and to ‘burry’ the issue.

I thing Shoaib Akhter is being harshly treated and is a victim of public trial and trivial expertise with the pressure of 'setting an example' attitude of the PCB in resolve.

This is shame less and non deserving for any Patriots like him.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

**Pakistan can still win - Shoaib **](BBC SPORT | Cricket | Pakistan can still win - Shoaib)

Injured pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar says Pakistan have the potential to win their forthcoming Test series in India even though he is unavailable.

“They have great players and if they put it together we have a great chance to win,” Shoaib told BBC Asian Network.

“Our team is a strong unit after being beaten by Australia - we learnt a lot from that and that will help us.”

Shoaib, who is suffering a hamstring injury, said it was too soon to know if he would be fit for the one-day series.

“I’m there to serve my country as best I could but if I’m fully fit I can do a better job,” he explained.

Pakistan lost their home Test series against their arch-rivals 3-1 a year ago.

Shoaib has missed 30 of the 66 Tests Pakistan have played since he made his debut in November 1997.

He admitted he was only half-fit on the recent tour of Australia, where Pakistan lost all three Tests.

“We always take chances, we always play with niggles and with injuries. I don’t know fast bowler who doesn’t,” he said.

"But what people don’t understand is a fast bowler can’t play every game because its too hard to do that.

“The amount of cricket we are playing nowadays is not easy at all.”

Shoaib expressed his frustration at missing the tour, Pakistan’s first to India since 1999.

“I always look for the bigger tours and the bigger games to perform,” he added.

"That was such an opportunity. You do something and you make yourself a big name. If you don’t do it you make yourself a bad name.

“I had a good chat with my consultant and doctors and they asked me to rest because hamstring problems always take a bit longer than you think.”

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

^ he is learning :o

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

I think its a very detail discussion....
bascially PCB is not trying to finish his career...
Shoaib needs a rest..... and he must be named captain.... as he is a creative mind...
and under his own captiancy he will perform well...

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

^^ that is the last thing we want and will be the last thing that will actually stop me from watching cricket.

I hope that never happens, just play as a bowler and thats it busssssssssss!

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

LOL. This guy can barely manage himself let alone a team.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

^^ I don’t know your ages, but can certainly assert your maturity level.

Re: In Support of Shoaib Akhtar

It’s not skhan’s fault; he might be a 12 year old little boy but I have seen even adults getting on the “Shoaib Akhtar is a criminal” bandwagon. So just let them enjoy the 3-0 whitewash.
