In Shia'aism...

No, I'm asking a question.

Re: In Shia’aism…

Im a little late in this discussion so I might’ve missed points made prior to this. I’ve only read the second page, that too only posts spanning less than a quarter of a page. Im mostly just going to address the point on Karbala..

Differences can be both political and religious. The reason the politics/power play comes to the forefront so often is that it is the difference that is most likely to cause conflict and thus be more visible. However, you will find that throughout history since the death of the Prophet, there have been less visible differences between “shia” and “sunni” people.

Shias believe that Hazrat Ali and the Imams were always sources of religious guidance and fiqh.. regardless of whether or not they were in power or not. There were always people who believed the house of Hashim were the religious authority and those who believed the khalifatul waqt was also the religious authority.

Imam Hussain was not out for Khilafat, he fought a defensive war. His principle argument with Yazeed was that he wouldnt give his allegiance to him even without which Yazeed still would be Khalifa by consensus. However, giving his bayt to yazeed would have signified Imam Hussain’s recognition of Yazeed’s validity as a Muslim leader.

Yazeed had united in him multiple ways in Sunni Islam of being the Khalifatul waqt. He was approved by a shura, he was designated Khalifa by the recognized Khalifa prior to him, multiple candidates apart from him had pledged allegiance to him (aside from Imam Hussain). However, Karbala hammered pretty much into everyone’s consciousness that all of these sources still werent enough to produce an Islamic head of state. The heinous actions Yazeed is guilty of, that by and large all Muslims recognize and have physical evidence of (regardless a minority of recent revisionist historians..) show that such actions could not come from a leader sanctioned by Islamic method to rule over Muslims, and thereby, Karbala forever carved a distinction between he who rules over Muslims, and who can act and guide Muslims in the name of Islam.

ps: ibn sadique bhai.. im well aware I owe u a pm :o , I have had a very limited GS experience of late. I’ll get back to my regular contacts soon inshallah
